Remember way, way back (two weeks ago!) when GameStop CEO Dan DeMatteo said there was no "near-term end in sight for Wii shortages"? Well, one of his employees, VP of Merchandising Bob McKenzie, seem to have a decidedly different take on the problem, telling MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo that the Wii supply situation this holiday season will be "much, much better than it has been the last two years."
While not directly contradicting his boss, McKenzie seemed much more hopeful about the supply of systems for the crucial months ahead. "I can't say we will be in stock every day throughout the holiday season," he said, "but I can tell you that the current flow we've seen coming from Nintendo on Wii hardware makes us very confident that we will meet the business model that we've got."
What's a potential Wii owner to do with these conflicting messages? We recommend playing it safe by taking a large tub of beef jerky and a few gallons of bottled water to your nearest GameStop and refusing to leave until you get the thin, white system you crave. It's a foolproof plan -- but when the police ask, tell them you came up with it yourself, OK?

My recommendation; buy my Wii. Only been used for about 30 hours playtime. I have an extra nunchuck and Wiimote and RE4. I will sell it for $200, including shipping to anyone who wants it. That is about a $350 value for only $200! It is still under warranty as I bought it six months ago.

koehler83,
Sh*t! Really? Cool, thanks for the tip, man! I could use $200 to buy some of the awesome games coming out for the 360 and to help buy a PS3 so I can get Iron Man on Blu-Ray when it comes out.
Not to start a flame war (Fernando, I like you, so please don't yell at me).....this is my first Nintendo console and I don't like it. I couldn't get enough of a college friend's N64 though, I was king of Goldeneye to the point that the owner of the console didn't want to play with me anymore. : (
I had an Intellivision, Sega Master System, and Genesis. Then I went to college and didn't get back into video games until I played Halo on a friends xbox.

What a surprise.
Christmas rolls around and there will be plenty of Wii's to purchase.
Don't be naive guys. The reason America has not seen many Wii's is because of the weak dollar. They make more money selling it in the other regions.

Here's you solution, go to craigslist. You'll find over half of all Wii owners trying to hock their systems.

Amazing, a new console is out that's cheaper than the Wii. Magically, there's more Wiis in stock. 360 price drop is just "coincidence."

Too late for me. I was somewhat interested in the Wii at launch, and if I could have gotten one with minimal effort by, say, walking into a regular store and buying one, I probably would have.
But after two years of it being a huge pain in the ass to find one, I find that I've pretty much just lost interest in the Wii and moved on.
