Flush with victory after learning that Guitar Hero had made us better than Metallica, we've already begun the hunt for our next conquest. Ahh, we see a challenger approaching through the mist, is that ... oh, crap, is that Jimi Hendrix? If Slash is to be believed, Activision is busy crafting an all-Hendrix version of the franchise to (presumably) follow up Guitar Hero World Tour.
The mono-monikered musician told Rolling Stone, "Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great."
Assuming that this is one of the few times in life where the phrase, "if Slash is to be believed," is followed by a fact, we'll take this opportunity to remind you that setting plastic guitars on fire is a terrible, terrible idea.

...they could make a "Guitar Hero: Led Zeppelin" ...I still will never buy another Guitar Hero game again. Flooding the market with garbage isnt going to help their case.

-1 to you for insinuating that Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin are garbage, even if that's not how you meant it.

-10 for being a jackass. my point was I love jimi hendrix AND zeppelin, some of my favorite bands, however I would never buy a game by neversoft that fondled the songs and made Guitar hero garbage, if it was dlc for rock band, It would be on my harddrive already.

Okay, as a guitarist, here's the real problem: Guitar Hero is sponsored by Gibson, right? Well, any game featuring Jimi Hendrix without his iconic upside-down Fender Strat is blasphemous.
Yes, I know Jimi had a flying V also, but it ain't the same.

Not anymore. Gibson sued Activision (and Harmonix) over some vague patent that went over "Guitar Simulation using 3D glasses" and all that jazz. They lost the case. They aren't working together anymore.

I get the feeling that people hate on Guitar Hero just because it's not Harmonix and that's it.If Harmonix put out an Aerosmith mega-pack of 40 songs or a Metallica mega-pack as DLC you people would chant how awesome Rock Band is and Guitar Hero sucks because Rock Band has so much content.
I for one will be picking up BOTH Rock Band 2 and World Tour. Why? Because they are fundamentally the same game of hitting colors and I can get piles of songs between Guitar Hero's disc based content and Rock Band's downloadable stuff.
The more songs to play the better.

More songs is clearly better than less songs, but more songs in one place is even better than the same number of songs in different games.
In RB, you can seemlessly mix and match all your content without switching discs, loading up different games, and having to adapt to different play styles.
I think GHWT will be a great game. They are really stepping up their game and offering a lot more content than usual to compete with RB. If they can amalgamate their past efforts and DLC store into an ecosystem as well, I think Activision will do really well with it. Otherwise, RB2's convenience and integration will ensure that GH:WT sits on the shelf gathering dust, or never gets bought in the first place.

And also, if Harmonix had a "Metallica megapack", you would be able to play it alongside your 200+ other songs all within RockBand 2. This is clearly superior to Activision selling you another DVD to insert, play with, then switch out for GH III, WT, whatever, when you eventually want to play other songs again.
Their "megapack" however, could cost more, since the price per song for DLC tends to be a bit higher than songs for release. Although, not necessarily, since GH:Aerosmith was $60, and only had 41 songs = $1.43/song. On Rock Band Music Store, Judas Priest's album works out to $1.25/song.

Have you people become that lazy that switching discs is now a reason to hate an entire game franchise?
I'm literally left in disbelief.

I haven't used the export feature yet. Mostly because I like the fact that I have 84 new songs to play vs. the 58 that I've been jamming to for the past year.
The biggest problem I have with Metallica/Aerosmith/Hendrix themed games is that it's TOO MUCH MUSIC FROM ONE BAND.
With GH:A, I got sick of Aerosmith after one Career playthrough.
And before you cry "But if HMX did it", no. That has nothing to do with it.
I've YET to buy a full artist pack for RB (Boston 6-Pack, G-Dead 6-pack, Who 12-pack, etc, or any of the four albums) for the same reason.

for anyone that cares: Hendrix was left handed. he had a right handed guitar and reversed the strings so he could play it.

to all the fighting, gh2 was a new song list, new venues, and new people than gh1 was. now rockband 2 is the same as gh2 was to gh1.
