AddictGaming.com is reporting that developer Turn 10 (the crew behind the Forza franchise) is currently working on the next installment of the Project Gotham Racing series seeing that longtime PGR developer Bizarre Creations is sleeping with Activision. The news comes from an undisclosed Turn 10 employee who says that Microsoft assigned them to PGR5 which will be announced as early as next week. Something that isn't totally unbelievable, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I feel like MS mentioned something that implied this quite a while ago. Forza 2 did use a version of the PGR engine as well.
It's not unbelievable, but honestly PGR4 was decent (and did not sell well) so I don't really see the point. I'd rather hear more about Forza 3 and have them put some time into prettying it up a bit.

How did it not sell well? It sold over a million copies, it sold more than well enough.

FordGTGuy,
There was a considerable amount of code/ideas exchanged between the two companies which is probably where the confusion comes from:
http://www.msxbox-world.com/xbox360/features/article/198/X06-XCN-Forza-2-QA-with-Dan-Greenawalt-Game-Director.html
Check out the answers to the question "What can you tell us about Forza Motorsport TV, will it be anything like Project Gotham Racing TV? " and the one right below it... about 2/3 down the page.

PGR is going to need some new features for me to drop $60 on it. PGR3 was worth it just for the new graphics but I passed on 4 as the bikes were just lame. Toss in some figure 8 tracks and some big jumps and we'll see but just Kudos and shinier cars isn't going to do it for me at least.

My guess is PGR4 will be Forza3.. Turn 10 would have no reason to put out 2 racers to compete w/ each other.. So that said. I really hate to say it being I LOVE forza and Hate PGR but I think this would spell the end for Forza..
Or Hopefully, just Forza 3 in sheeps clothing..

Good PGR4 was a lost cause. Maybe the new team can actually bring something new into the series

Well then PGR5 is in good hands, and now Bizarre can focus on the next Geometry Wars. Win-Win.

PGR4 was AWESOMENESS in a box....it was by far the best racing game of 2007, solid in every way and obviously it has the best graphics of any videogame anyone has ever seen. If you haven't checked it out its worth it just for the graphics. Also the DLC they released was awesome and added a few extra hours...too bad there wont be any more dlc. :(

pgr became irrelevant to me when they added bikes. being a wheel racer i skipped pgr4, i hope they revert to just cars in the next one.

I really hope that this is not the case. Turn10 should be focusing on Forza 3. In my opinion Forza 1 was better than all four PGR games added together, and Forza 2 was even better. And I'm really looking forward to the third one.

The only thing that impressed me about PGR4 was the sound. I've never heard such realistic car sounds when in the first-person "inside the car" view. When it rains in the game, you can hear the muffled engine and the rain hitting the windshield. And if you have surround sound and are driving a rear engine car, the engine sound actually comes from behind you, it's crazy.

PGR4 was a great game. The lack of a HUD in 1st person mode was annoying, and the restrictions on what cars could be used in certain events was slightly painful when you were stuck with a pile o' @~#* to drive, but the game was fun and gave me many hours of fun and gamerscore.
