Remember when the Podcast Rodeo told you that GFW Radio, The Brodeo, would continue to soldier on in the absence of fearless leader Jeff Green? It would seem that we were lying. Though it probably could have withstood the dissolution of its magazine and the loss of Green, the departure of Shawn Elliot was apparently more than it could handle. Our favorite philosophizing, rap master game journalist announced yesterday that he was leaving 1UP for 2K Boston (as if we needed another reason to creepy stalk poor KennyL). The final episode of GFW Radio is up now.
Elliot joins a list of recently departed 1UP staffers that has become too long for us to remember. He'll be associate producing a mystery project at the 2K Boston: great news for the "us" two years from now, but absolutely bad news for us today. See you later, boss. Give Ken a back rub for us.

Bad, Bad news. I can see why this may have been a little too much for the Brodeo to recover from. They say there will be something new in the future though, so I hope that's just as good.
Good luck to Shawn.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it were a joke. Not even if he actually stopped working there for a few months, then popped back in sometime in 2009, "Ha! Gotcha!"

I've taken for granted that every week I'm going to get top-notch commentary from the Brodeo. 1up Yours is good, but the Brodeo seemed to be a step above when it came to quality discussion. It's a shame to have such a valued industry perspective silenced. I only hope that Green and Elliot find another venue to continue their excellent intellectual dialog in a public forum.

Joystiq, just a reminder:

You think THAT has nothing to do with Hsu, Green, and Smith, as well as the closing of GFW?

Thank God.
He just spent all his time explaining how he's more literate than you. Listen to his big stroke session about Braid.
Protip:
Don't ever use the word "deconstructing".

Well, I guess I can nix GFW from my podcast lineup. God, if Shane and Garnett go it'll make a clean sweep of my favorite 1UP personalities.
Nick Suttner, Anthony G., & the new blood are cool guys, but many of the core luminaries are leaving.

Yeah, the way it's going, Shane, Garnett and Skip will just have to leave and take the podcast with them. It's almost all that's left.

I still feel the loss of Bryan Intihar the most (he and Zuniga had great chemistry on the anomaly and both were really into it), and EGM Live going the way of the do-do sucked too (although 1UP FM is good in it's own right). That being said, Nick Suttner is pretty cool, and Garnett/Shane are the flagship of the 1UP network. Having John Davidson on for the last month hasn't hurt either. If Garnett/Shane ever leave then 1UP would be in the same boat as Gamespot was after the Gerstmann incident.

Fragile Eagle is awesome! Although the Insomniac podcast leaves something to be desired (not his fault).
John is fantastic too.
Nick, et al. on 1UP FM are doing a good job. It's taking a bit of time to get it into tune, but all the right ingredients are there. It should be a good podcast in no time.

Somehow I managed to mess that up:
we'll just 'have' to Chuff it out.
