SNK may soon be trading in its "rocket lawncher" for a high-def upgrade, as IGN reports that the company is considering bringing an HD version of Metal Slug to consoles. If true, the move would echo recent efforts by the company, such as with the forthcoming The King of Fighters XII, to abandon stale sprites for delicious eye candy.
Nothing else is known of SNK's future plans for the franchise, and considering that the company merely looks forward to announcing something "someday soon," we are not holding our breath just yet. However, fans itching for a retro fix can pick up Metal Slug 7 when it rolls on to the DS in November.

Metal Slug,as is, is complete chaos on 2player mode...
If they are to do a 4 player mode...well, I doubt it would pass the epilepsy tests :(

This should be filed under the "no-shit/no-brainer" move... seriously SNK you dont have much going for you and the one of the few series you have goingg strong hasnt changed in ages, I think if by now your only considering the move then I suggest you start moving ur ass -_-...
But yes this in HD glory with 4 player inclusion would make a awesome psn/live arcade title, or even through disc selling if necessary. So long as they get this out.

Speaking of rockets...
Does anyone remember a game called Rocket Knight Adventures? It was amazing.

Although it doesn't relate to metal slug, your picture reminded me of this.

Sorry, Jimmy, that's the only one I got. :/
Yeah, Fernando, I remember Sparkster. Be nice if Konami did a true revival to the series (and not just a mere cameo in Track & Field DS).
Additionally... if they do make a Metal Slug HD, I hope it's text is legible on my TV (just got Dead Rising, and can barely read a thing!).

I love Metal Slug. Can't wait to play an HD version and the new brand Metal Slug 7 for the DS.

This would be sweet. The anthology for the PS2 is still one of my favorite titles.

Fio was always my favorite, then I found out she was a girl, then she became hot........
Anyway, I love games like metal slug, but only thing that I could ever find was the GBA remake of gunstar heroes, or a new DS game called Commando Steel Disasters, which strangly enough, looks lot like Metal slug.

I just bought Commando: Steel Disaster two weeks ago, in a Toys R Us sale.
Is a complete rip off of Metal Slug, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Is a fun game, worth the $20 dlls. Only problem is that is way too difficult.
But it keeps you entertained until Metal slug 7 is released.

Indeed, damn fun game, if you are going to rip something off, you better do a good job at it :) .

Oh man, I remember playing this on arcades when I was on vacation as a kid. This is an obvious download for the live arcade if released!

I still pop Metal Slug Anthology into the Wii occasionally and blast my way through all 7 games. Lots of fun!

Am I the only one who hates the concept? The original cartoony and pixelated graphics were an important part of the Metal Slug experience - and overhauling them would just look like absolute garbage.
This whole HD obsession has gone way to far, there is a time for STYLE over pixel power.

Yeah, I'm partial to pixels myself. It's kind of weird that it seems like as many new games are coming out with self-induced pixels for style's sake as there are old games going back and removing the same.

Sprites are delicious eye candy, especially when drawn by SNK and doubly so for Metal Slug. If I want an HD version that looks like it was animated in Flash I'll play Alien Hominid, thanks.
