Ubisoft: Tom Clancy 'will appear' on Wii
Unless he was cryptically teasing the appearance of a special-edition Wii branded with the author's face, we think Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently suggested that the company's Tom Clancy franchise would be gracing the Wii in the future. "Tom Clancy will appear at one point," Guillemot told GameDaily in an interview. "We need to make sure they [look good]."
An integral part of making them look good, of course, lies in Ubisoft's engine technology, which first needs to be adapted for Nintendo's odd-one-out hardware. "We have engines that were created for the next-generation consoles," explained the Ubi boss. "We had to re-engineer a certain number of engines to be sure we could use the quality of the machine. Even without the [high-end] graphics, the experience can still be very interesting."
And there you have it. Tom Clancy's Very Interesting Experience Without The Graphics confirmed for release in, uh, "the future."

Ludwig has been busy today.
Might I suggest Sam Fisher-Price because only little kids play the wii.
theturtle363 @ Sep 18th 2008 4:31PM
looks like Ludwig might need to start trying to get tenure

It will be great if it is like Metroid Prime 3, but fun.
Mischa @ Sep 18th 2008 5:08PM
Metroid Prime 3 was awesome you wankersaurus.
CW @ Sep 18th 2008 4:27PM
Honestly, the exclusive arrangement between Tom Clancy and Ubisoft is probably the worst thing that could have happened to the franchise. Having bought (3) Ubisoft games in the past 18 months, I can tell you I'm never buying another one. Extremely low production quality, and non-existent support. A total joke.
And if you think Tom Clancy games on XBox360/PS3/PC are crapware, imagine what they'll puke up for Wii.
Duke @ Sep 18th 2008 4:34PM
Yeah, how the hell did they get those Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six titles to sell so many copies!? How the hell did so many of us like them and play the crap out of them because we thought they were fun!? We were scammed!!!!!!!
CW @ Sep 18th 2008 4:38PM
Because we like Tom Clancy.
jumpshot @ Sep 19th 2008 9:34AM
added to Duke's:
And we bought them again and again... what trick is this? Tom and Ubi must be controlling our minds.
Mindlog @ Sep 18th 2008 4:34PM
Frickin' retarded thought bubble made me laugh.
Ninjakamster (PS360 FTW!) @ Sep 18th 2008 4:36PM
Will we see a Rainbow 6 Wii-gas game on it? Yes, that was horrible. : D
samfish @ Sep 18th 2008 4:38PM
Of course they won't call it Ghost Wii-con...there's no 'Z' at the end!
Anam @ Sep 18th 2008 5:27PM
Ghozt Wii-con?
Mr Khan @ Sep 18th 2008 4:40PM
So long as Ubisoft starts treating Wii as a serious platform, as opposed to a cash cow that can be abused for the other serious platforms, i'll be satisfied
One at a time, more developers will start having to give major title support. Wii's at 47% marketshare, and rising.
Lijik @ Sep 18th 2008 4:43PM
Oh man, I would so buy IMAGINE!:Ghost Wii-con.
But yeah, here's hoping that it joins the Rabbid series as the only Ubisoft wii games that aren't awful shovelware titles.
BananaBoat @ Sep 18th 2008 4:49PM
How about "The sum of all wiiears"
or "Red Wiibit"
or "Hunt for the red wiitober"
or "Red Storm Wiising"
or..my favorite... "Without wiimorse"
Lone Starr @ Sep 18th 2008 4:59PM
"Even without the [high-end] graphics, the experience can still be very interesting."
Note how instead of saying it will be fun, he says it will be interesting.
Mischa @ Sep 18th 2008 5:09PM
I've never actually seen a picture of Tom Clancy (or KLON-SY) before, and I must say, he looks exactly like I thought he would. Not enough American flags though.
Or eagles.
Duke @ Sep 18th 2008 5:31PM
Hes usually in a bomber jacket with one or both of those on it.
Cesaria (Gamertag: Cesaria360) @ Sep 18th 2008 6:23PM
I'm gonna kick some ass, gonna drive a big truck, soar on the back of an eagle.
ROCK, FLAG, AND EAGLE!
FSK405K @ Sep 18th 2008 5:26PM
I can't find any celebrity mii sites with Tom Clancy. Pity.
nofriendo @ Sep 18th 2008 7:00PM

I guess the CEO of Ubisoft is not aware that a Tom Clancy game is on the Wii already. It's called Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent. This is really a pointless story and it makes me sad that nobody on the various sites that carried it bothered to dig a little deeper.
Mr Khan @ Sep 18th 2008 7:07PM
Odd that they so readily forget the Wii's first M-rated game.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Sep 18th 2008 8:01PM
Hunting terrorists with my mii... YAY!
Phillip @ Sep 18th 2008 11:29PM
"Tom Clancy will appear at one point,"
I assume they mean "again". Lest anyone forget:

The difference in computational power between Wii and 360/PS3 is vastly more significant than people realize. For one, the CPU of 360/PS3 has over four times higher MHz.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Sep 19th 2008 4:16AM
Seriously, internet detectives. Saying "Tom Clancy will appear at one point" when referring to a forthcoming lineup of games is *not* the same as saying, "Tom Clancy will appear at one point for the first time ever."
Double Agent has little bearing on this context.
jumpshot @ Sep 19th 2008 9:36AM
Classic Ludwig. I'm looking forward to the Ghost Wii-con, Advanced Waggle-Fighter series.
(I kid because I love)
wesley johnson @ Sep 19th 2008 12:13PM
two thumbs up on the pic, luddie. it's puntastic.
i'm not a wii-owner but a tom clancy wii game might be fun. of course, the complexity will need to be scaled back, but, sometimes i enjoy more simple games.
