GTA IV Live Weekend: Shoot people, win swag Sept. 26-28
In an effort to promote more heinous killing sprees*, Rockstar is hosting a Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox Live weekend September 26-28. Instead of going the Call of Duty 4 route and offering extra experience points, the developer is running a Play & Win contest for various GTA IV gear.
There are 24 prizes each day for those who sign on and play multiplayer, and each of those winners will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize that includes the Xbox 360 Elite, a 12-month XBL Gold card and 4,000
. To be eligible, register your gamertag either online or by downloading the GTA IV Live Weekend gamer pictures.

No offense but I'm surprised people are still playing this online.

Are you serious? frustrating little kids on free mode is hilarious.
Duke @ Sep 19th 2008 12:57PM
Well, I have't played it for a long time now, but I will be participating in this.
So it appears their plan is working.

A little off topic but:
I haven't played online yet because I'm not a huge fan of online play, but I just recently finished this game in story mode and I just have to say: fan-fucking-tastic! One of the best games I've ever played.

US and Canada only of course... =(

You have to have an Xbox and Xbox Live in order to win an Xbox and Xbox Live. Why not throw in a copy of GTA4?
MasterInsan0 @ Sep 19th 2008 1:46PM
Not everyone has an Elite, though, and more XBLA time and MS points are always useful.

*insert RRoD replacement and free online play comment here*

Ebay/Craigslist is a beautiful thing
BigD145 @ Sep 19th 2008 3:08PM
If you're talking about ebay or craigslist, then why not just give cash prizes? Oh, but then you wouldn't get any new users going out and buying the new cheap Arcade version and a copy of GTA so they can get an opportunity to win an Elite. It's just another form of legalized gambling where The House has the advantage.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, I'm sure these play and win events really drive sales of consoles... Believe it or not, there's not actually a conspiracy hiding under every single rock dude. Most 360 owners don't have a 120GB HDD that the Elite comes with, not having to pay for a year of Xbox live is awesome, 4,000 space bucks would come in handy for sure.

I wish I could just buy some of that stuff that they have listed as prizes. That license plate with N1ko on it is sweet.

gimme baseball bat plz...

They're probably hyping it up for the DLC because gameplay-wise, I've never seen an elite-class developer create such a terrible multiplayer game....
I'm wondering if anybody even playtested it because any moment, I could list at least twenty "fixies" that'd make it much better...
AoE @ Sep 19th 2008 7:19PM
Really? I loved car jack city; played the hell out of that mode and gta race for a couple of months...
sirk @ Sep 19th 2008 3:15PM
Give me Saints Row over this travesty of a game any day of the week. at least after playing it you can see where all the 'innovations' for GTAIV came from.
