Mega Man 9 dated for North America

Everybody's favorite Mega Man -- who's not actually a man, but, in fact, a robotic boy with an insatiable lust for power and a proficiency for murderous kleptomania -- will kick off his throwback, comeback tour in North America later this month. Capcom has confirmed that Mega Man 9 will leap through Wiiware's shutter next week, on September 22nd, with the PlayStation Network version following on September 25th (for $9.99). Xbox Live Arcade will have to make do with October 1st.

Whichever version you end up buying, there's no question that you'll end up dying. But hey, since it's for everlasting peace, it's for a worthy cause.

I'd like to think its at the point now where 'fanboys' could look at news like this and be cool with it. xbox often gets stuff early, PS3 sometimes gets stuff early. For ps3 users, congrats, you're little bonus is playing it a week earlier than xbox - it's not the kind of thing that needs to start a flame war anymore.

Also, the new bosses sure look cool.

Well... I have more than a week to practice and finish the Wii version, and then I will get the 360 version to do all the achievements.

I remember how back in the day, you didn't have to PAY to get new characters. You had to acheive some crazy-ass goal to UNLOCK them.

This, above all other reasons, is why I completely HATE the current generation of consoles: DLC fees. Especially when it's of content that would be "free" unlockables in the previous generations.

Sorry, but as much as I like Protoman, I don't see me paying $2 to play as him.

Hmmmm...I want the 360 version for the achievements...but the PS3 pad might be better for this kind of gameplay...with the Wii being a distant third here....

Yeah I really have to say, this comment makes no sense. I would probably put it at Wii > PS3 > 360, just for the controllers. And don't give me achievement crap, because the 360's d-pad is ass (I love the 360, but seriously, that thing is an abortion of a d-pad)

Are you an idiot? Wii's controller is by far the best suited for this game, then PS3, and 360 in dead last. Wii's controller practically IS an NES controller.

PROTIP: This is a Wii game. It was the PORTED to 360/PS3 by Capcom of America. For this reason, it remains a Wii exclusive in Japan.

VISUALLY the Wiimote is an NES controller... but hold one again sometime. The NES controller was flatter and had a bigger Dpad. Of course this statements soul purpose is to perpetual a silly war...

Makes sense. Wii is the native version, PSN and XBLA are ports, and Microsoft's system has the most hoops (not that that's a bad thing)

I was originally in disgust of the angle they decided to take with this game... but you know, all I need to do is find the level maps and just recreate it on MMPOWERED UP and I'd be fine.

The PSN version is coming out before the XBLA Version eh? it's not a big deal for me. I don't really mind waiting 'til next month since I've yet to get cash for more points after paying my dad the cash I needed for the points I needed to buy CC and some other stuff so... yeah. I don't mind waiting a couple more weeks, since it gives me time to get cash for this gem. =)

Wii owners... now you have a reason to "dust" it off. Enjoy your retro sweetness before us.

(No, I don't hate the Wii. I know you Big N loyalists play it because of the gems it has, despite the insults you get from a bit of readers here that sometimes say it doesn't have games and crap like that.)

All 8 of the Megaman X games (except X2) were released on the PC. Both Megaman Legends games as well. There was also "Megaman" and "Megaman III" DOS games released, though they were entirely new games with different bosses. I played the first on my PC/XT in 1990.
