Everybody's favorite Mega Man -- who's not actually a man, but, in fact, a robotic boy with an insatiable lust for power and a proficiency for murderous kleptomania -- will kick off his throwback, comeback tour in North America later this month. Capcom has confirmed that Mega Man 9 will leap through Wiiware's shutter next week, on September 22nd, with the PlayStation Network version following on September 25th (for $9.99). Xbox Live Arcade will have to make do with October 1st.
Whichever version you end up buying, there's no question that you'll end up dying. But hey, since it's for everlasting peace, it's for a worthy cause.

Whoever thinks this game isn't best played on the Wii-Mote, just don't play another new videogame ever until after playing any Megaman game on a real NES.

"WAAAHWAAAH GAMEPLAY, NOT GRAPHICS, WAAAAH, SOMETHING ORIGINAL, NOT ANOTHER SEQUEL, WAAAH oh shit did you see about Mega Man 9? They're making it EXACTLY like another NES game! I can't wait to buy it!"

Yeah, IGN said so a few days ago, but I don't particularly trust them. :P It's great to have more solid confirmation. I was playing Mega Man 2 the other day. These games are a joy to play and I can't wait to play this new one.
Also, I didn't realize it was a Wii exclusive in Japan. Mega Man is, like, crazy popular in Japan, isn't he?

I don't know about the classic styled Megaman games (platformers: Classic, X, Zero, ZX), but the Action RPG spinoffs (Battle Network and StarForce) are pretty big. Hell, they're the only ones to get their own anime series...

I want the 360 version. For several reasons. Mainly so I can play all 9 on the same console.
