I cant wait for this update. I mostly just want to have the 8 person private chat. I have been wanting that for awhile now.

I like the new dash and cant wait to start playing around with the Avatars and playing games like 1vs100.

I also noticed that for your gamer picture you can actually move a comera around in the 3D space and take a picture to use as your GamerPic.

i agree, 8 person chat is gonna be freaking awesome.

It'll be like Home, except you'll be talking with your friends privately while playing games instead of typing thought bubbles while looking at each others designer jeans. :P

I also think the integrated Party system to the Private chat is a really great extra. Say me and two of my friends want to hop on COD4 while some of my other friends want to get a few games of TF2 going. I cant wait to have fun with this stuff. Hopefully it will come out some time early October.

Will there be an option to start from scratch instead of having to choose a premade avator that you edit? Either way, looks good.

this looks really tight! cant wait for the update. oh ya, btw, Avatars were in development before Miis. so, all you people who say they're a "Home" or Mii ripoff are wrong.

I really doubt they have been in development for that long.

Honestly, who cares when they were in development? Halo wasn't the first console FPS but they took the concept to a new level of quality. I think the avatars look way better than the Miis in my opinion.
Not to mention that developers have the option to make unlockable accessories for you avatar. If Epic or Bungie released armor sets for the avatars, XBLM would break under the strain of all the "hardcores" downloading stuff for the avatars they swore they would never make.

And that means that M$ is telling the complete truth?

They probably had the general idea/concept not yet written on paper about having some type of Avatar to compete with 'Home' or Mii's. So if you want to consider that 'development time' then go ahead.

At any rate, they look like a half baked idea, doing it because everyone else is doing it. Just like WHY they are changing the interface because they're trying to gain more sales by making the consumer believe it's so much better than it was before (New Xbox Experience). Granted, the 8 play party is a great thing but thats about it.

It looks pretty cool! Imagine the possibilities with the Avatars- all major sports jerseys, designer clothes, music artist logos (would love to sport a Van Halen T-shirt!) Means more money out of pocket, but it's still pretty cool.

Hey man, PS3 fanboy section is down there. So, you might wanna check it out. Oh, Sims was created way way before all this Home crap. "Wow, [Sony] is so innovative", right? -_- Get over it. People copy what seem to be neat ideas.

Looks cool but I hope there will be some options for moving/re-arranging/resizing facial features, those sort of features led to some creative Miis and help diversify what would otherwise be fairly generic avatars.

You know, when they first showed avatars, i cringed because they looked so out of place on the Xbox 360.. However this video looked pretty solid and shedding new light on the feature. I especially like the detail of the customizations. Its really basic on the Wii's Miis and i never liked the bubble head style Nintendo went with. PS3's realistic approach to player representation and 360s cartoony Avatars look much better.

I'm still not entirely sure what the point of Avatars are but they are looking good at least.

The purpose is for use in the Primetime games(Though they'll be unavailable for EU, so it'll be useless for us). According to Microsoft, in the beginning they're only to be used in E10+ games. But later on they may be permitted to be used in M games too.

actually no, customizing characters is not new especially useless avatars like Miis, Sims, Home-ies and...this...(i don't even have a nick name for whatever this crap is).

i've been hating on them since their existence. but luckily we can choose to not use them.

Emotive avatar that won't ever be integrated in anything as vast as Home, do not want!

Fast menus, 8 person chat and full game install, do want!

still can't believe no one commented on that sweet burping feature. Hopefully they release packs or something for that. Or at least make it so you can choose what sound(s) you want the character to make with the right stick, and what motions to do with the left bumper. We all know that being able to strike poses would be funny. Who knows maybe even have game related accessories like having the avatar stand around with the lancer? There really is plenty of possiblities.

The Avatars remind me of Mii's. However, I like that the shirts and stuff have designs unlike on the Wii where you can just choose the color of your shirt. The Avatars look more cartoony and better then those characters in Home and look better then Mii's. I have all three systems and if I would have to choose which of these character creations look the best I would say Avatars.

While this may be a rip off of Mii's all companies steal other companies ideas. Look at the Wii's success with the casual gamers and now Sony and Microsoft want to jump on the bandwagon. It will be interesting to see this New Xbox Experience. I also can't wait to play 1 vs. 100 which looks like fun.

I wonder if have clothes and features unlocked with gamer point requirements (like something at 100, 1000, etc). That would make the Xbox avatar system sort of like an MMORPG and get people to buy as much games as possible to get more achievement points so they can have unique clothes.
