They've been overusing their snark lately, they need to take time to let it build back up

I'd rather not make one. It's seriously the worst part of this awesome dashboard update by far.

also, can I fucking delete it? Like not have one whatsoever? That'd be reallt nice. I don't even have a Mii on my Wii's dashboard greeting me every time when it's booted up; Why the fuck do I have it on my 360? It's such an eye sore.

It's like when you go to hot girls house but she has an ugly sister that always shows up and greets you at the door.
Fuck that, please make it turn-off-able MS!

OPCIONAL!
English translation: OPTIONAL!

You don't have to make one if you don't want to.

DAMN!

Dan, you might as well use it. I mean, most likely everyone gonna have it unless the stick with the old Gamercard thing. Its going to be weird IF most people have the avatars when you view their profile or something and you just had the old Gamercard. Honestly, I think Microsoft should of just gave us the ability to add our own gamerpics but instead, we got Avatars. :/ I mean even if the did the avatars (which they did), they should of made it more lifelike and not all cartoony.

Home: Waste of time, crap, Second Life rip off.
-
Avatars: Fun little addition that is optional so if you think it is crap, it doesn't matter as you dont have to use them so keep your mouth shut and dont you dare call it a Mii rip off, it was a production long before the Miis were announced!

Meh, at least the Home avatars have a reason to be there, the Mii60s just look like there are there to replace the Gamerpic... and thats all I have heard about them.

LOL you PR lapping drone. Before Mii's my ass, even if they had some semblance of user avatars planned, no way would they look THIS much like Mii's. Seriously, if you look at this video and don't immediately get that cheap chinese knockoff vibe, then you either have never seen Mii's, you're an MS whore, or you're just stupid.

Well... yes... I was pointing out the double standards idiotic fanboys on Joystiq hold when they crap on Home for being a copy of Second Life, yet anyone who even dares mention a Mii around these avatars are downvoted faster than someone badmouthing Halo 3 or Gears 2.

Home has more reason for being there, where as the only reason the Mii60s are here are to be filled with love goo of fanboys... :|
And it seems to be doing that pretty well, everyone seems to be eating it up too.

As shiny as the new system may look, I have my doubts about its usability. It looks like an absolute nightmare to navigate, whereas the blades system was simple and efficient. I also don't buy into this avatar junk, and not because it looks like a "kiddy" Mii rip-off. To me they just look like utterly pointless additions, as, to be honest, I think that I can better represent myself with my gamerpicture than a stupid look-alike. Other than creating stupid Hitler and Zoidberg look-alikes, I don't remember the Mii system ever being of any use for anything either.

Oh god, this is terrible. The faces look completely retarded with barely any differences between them, yet you can tart them up with accessories like fucking Gaia avatars. Because we all know personality comes from the clothes you wear, not from what you look like!

Wow, neat, whatever. WHENS IT COME OUT?!? I want that freakin Netflix instant viewer. I think the Avatar thing is okay, they haven't really shown how you'll use them...the new look, I don't mind it. Really lookin foward to that Netflix though.

Lots of people are trying to act all grown up and saying they'll burn their systems for there casual aims. SO WHAT! I understand with the Wii, because they've gotten to the point where there is no other options to the casual gaming. But the PS3 and 360 are trying to offer something for EVERYONE! They aren't forcing you to take part in any of the casualness, you don't have to have an Avatar, you don't have to buy Luxor 2 or Scene it, you will still get your new version of Gears of War and GTA, Home will not stop you from enjoying Resistance, ITS ALL OPTIONAL!!!

Am I the only one who distinctly said that the concept of a universal avatar like Nintendo's Mii were retarded and would never sell, and that Microsoft would not stoop down to that level?

Ok, let's be completely honest. I had a Wii, and at first the Mii system was great. After a while it was just, "Hey look another way I can integrate my Mii into a minigame collection."
I'm not going to say that this update seems pointless, but I'm not a fan of the Avatar system. When everyone says optional, I'd like to point out that I, at least, and I could be very wrong and if I am please point out your reference material because I would love to be wrong on this, haven't seen anything saying you can turn the avatars off. You don't have to MAKE one, but you're still going to stare down the little thing every time you turn on your X-box. The only solice would be if you turn auto-boot back on and never go to the dashboard. I don't like that thought myself.

Seriously... I appreciate Microsoft keeping it a little fresh.
