He can, however for some reason they removed his ability to slide in Mega Man 9 (maybe because he couldn't slide in Mega Man 2?).

This is exiting times for people who are old enough to hav played the oringinal MM when it first came out.I understand why Proto man is DLC, as Monkeys Suck pointed out, MM1 and MM2 were the inspiration for MM9. So no sliding or charge shots as a playable feature. So, if you want that post MM2 feeling, the go cop that DLC.

Or maybe they just took all that stuff out so they could release a DLC character and tack that stuff on so they wouldn't appear to be charging $2 for just a different color sprite.

tmac,
Do you ever say anything positive about any game that isn't a Sony exclusive? I'm being serious.

So you're still blowin the sony fanboy horn I see, it's ok I've come to the realization it's the only attack you have anymore. Even you should be able to see what's wrong with this. I'm against getting raped by game companies on any system for any game. They're not fooling me again after that retarded horse armor incident back in 2006.

This really is, in all honesty, horse armor. Will I buy it? Yes, because $2 is meaningless to me and I would buy MM9 for $30 if that was the price-tag. But it's something that doesn't extend the game to any degree worth more money. The reason DLC costs money, or the reason DLC is supposed to cost money, is that the developers went back, made something new at extra expense (however minimal), and released it separately. Protoman, I imagine, took about 20 minutes to program.

Announcing specific DLC before a game comes out is simply admitting to price-gouging. As t-etc. said, it amounts to little more than taking content out of a game so that more can be charged.

Sorry Dubya, I mean tmac, I didn't know that asking you a question was considered an attack.

When you ask it the way you do it is an attack. You must really think I'm stupid if you think I don't know you're just pushing my buttons here, when you know full well I have a 360 and play with that more than my ps3.

tmac,
Dude, I don't even know for a fact that you own a 360, much less that you play with it more than with your PS3. How could I possibly know that? Send me a friend request. My gamertag is HaloKissesBoys and my PSN is WorstReviewEver.

As I said over on 1up, pretty much anyone who buys this is either an idiot or just enjoys getting raped (not that I'm judging...you can enjoy whatever sick shit you want :P).

It's pretty laughable that capcom preaches all this retro bullshit with the game just to milk nostalgia, but when it comes to extra stuff they'll just use current-gen nickel and diming policies instead of making it unlockable ya know...like the old days.

The sad thing is, they'll probably sell a ton of this DLC. There's more than enough idiots out there to milk :(

I agree 100% for once

Practice what you preach, Capcom. Want to make a retro game? Give it retro features like unlocking sprite swaps instead of paying for them.

I'm not sure everyone that buys it is an idiot, I think a lot of people that buy it are those who could care less about $2.

Anyone that agrees it's okay to do or buys it to "support to company" deserves much worse insults than what you gave.

And I would be more than happy to hurl even more vicious insults at those people. Don't forget to include the people who said they're buying it multiple times *cough* fernando *cough*.

Although I guess those people could fall into your supporting the company category.

I dunno. If it was any other company... but Capcom? I'm not for buying shit just to support a company, but if there's any company that does deserve my support, it's Capcom. As I said in another post, I'll be buying it because I like ProtoMan and $2 for what'll amount to a few extra playthroughs of the game isn't all that bad a deal to me. I do find it lame that it's not in the game to begin with, but I mean, two bucks, I can sift through my sofa and come up with that change.

Retro means recycling a style or design from a previous time. It has nothing to do with current business practices. Maybe the DLC isn't going to line pockets but help with development of new games or help them recover some anticipated loss? If it goes to their pockets, then congratulations Capcom for being a succesful business.

Anyone who pays for a dozen NES sprites for $2 forfeits the right to complain about ANYTHING, including :

1. The price of a high end gaming PC
2. Taxes
3. Horse armor of any kind
4. Life

a dozen? you mean 1. it is beyond comprehension why capcom is charging for something that would take 2 minutes to make.

but you are right on the money with all your points

As much as I'm (usually) against downloadable content like this, I'm completely blinded by the 8-bit Mega Man love. Plus I have exactly 1200 Wii points, so unless other good WiiWare/Virtual Console stuff comes out between tomorrow and October 6th (protip: most likely not), then I'll definitely be getting some Proto Man.

I think people are pissed over the principle of the thing, as though whining over the internet will change shit. I'll be buying it because 1 - I like Proto Man and 2 - $2 isn't much. Yeah, I do find it pretty bullshit that it isn't included in game, but then again, two bucks for what will probably amount to a few more playthroughs of the game is a decent enough deal to put it over the edge. If that makes me an 'idiot', so be it.

Fatass:
I do believe the switch from action RPG to traditional RPG for Dragon Quest IX was the result of negative feedback. Whiel I don't know HOW vocal outside of the Internet the outcry was, there were definitely many fans bemoaning the change, Japanese or not.

Yes, complaining on the Internet CAN change things... but only if the backlash is large enough.

Hang on, Wii DLC, thats the first time I've ever heard of it.

Also, playing Protoman instead of Mega man is blasphemy.

Also, only two dollars, don't tell Capcom, but they could have got away with way more, and they would still sell billions.
