The above picture is implying the real name of the game is Breast Rider.

passing this one up - how can it REALLY be Golden Axe w/o co-op. Lame.

Someone needs to bust out a next-gen Streets of Rage / Final Fight kind of game with online co-op... or did I miss it?

I just watched the trailer again on XBLM. It looks like a bit of a laugh, but it's really going to get swallowed in this last 1/4 of a year of absolutely epic games. Maybe next summer once I've finished the two dozen absolutely essential games that I'll pick up in the next 3 months.

Proof gaming is becoming more anti-social. Co-op gameplay was common when the original Golden Axe appeared in arcades, but now its becoming difficult to find any game (outside of Nintendo) that you can play with a buddy sitting on beside you. It isn't even a priority the new Golden Axe game.

What have you played, like 3 games? I can't imagine it would be much more than that if you're having such a difficult time finding anything with local co-op.

Besides, what's so anti-social about playing online with friends? It's the same thing, it just means you can do it more often.

If anything, gaming is more social than it's ever been, with co-op and multiplayer now being viewed as absolutely essential features that make or break games.

Seriously, how man FPS games with co-op can you name from prior to this generation? There's been more this gen than in every other gen combined. And that holds true for several of the genres. Hell, even some of the RPGs have co-op now.

While co-op and multiplayer is definitely a bigger emphasis these days, I have to agree with Evan at least a bit. For instance: I often want to play CoD4 with my brothers. I live with my brothers 4 months a year, and the other 8 I don't. And yet, bizarrely, the only time we can play is when we're 100 miles apart.

I have no problem with online, I just wish it didn't come at the expense of local.

Online is still more social than a single player game and I'd say that rate of online co-op game releases is actually rising. In fact, if you think about, how many times do we hear people complain about multiplayer taking precedence over single player? Quite often.

And there's still local co-op around, they may just not be in genres you play. I also think this has a lot to do with the rise in age of the core gamers. Those of us that grew up playing games like Golden Axe now have jobs, families, and other such responsibilities. Having friends over for games just isn't as easy as it once was. For example, I've got a good friend with a newborn daughter that is like 2 weeks old. He can barely escape his house for anything other than work. Yet we can still find time to meet up online late in the evening to play.

Yeah, it's hard to play online with your buddies when your buddies don't own the game.

I think it has more to do with the goofy haircut on the left and the awful paper axe on the right than anything else. Only the middle one has a decent costume.

Golden Axe always seemed a bit... horrifically overrated to me - in a genre where every game is extremely similar, it seems to be the lowest common denominator. Even Knights of the Round is a game of the same era which took on the same setting and came out far superior - and if you want to look at modern times, well, there's always Castle Crashers.

Without the co-op, they shouldn't even have(re)made it. Same thing for that TMNT game that was out this year.

Seriously, what are the writers here, 12? Let's X out anything that might make our audience think we are gay! There we go, a check mark over the only woman, disregarding the fact that this is a shot of people doing cosplay, and hers isn't even the best costume. (It's the Viking, btw.)
