New games this week: Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway edition

Don't be fooled. This week's list of new releases may look like the first really big fall week just chock-full of new, great games. Well, they're new all right (most of them at least) but we're not sure there's a ton of "can't miss" games on deck.

Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway is an obvious one, LEGO Batman will probably be good, if a bit similar to every other LEGO game. Wii's got some good looking stuff too, with Wario Land: Shake It and Samba de Amigo. That's the killer, but there's definitely a fair amount of filler. Our favorite: Barbie Fashion Show: An Eye for Style. What's yours?

OMG, Mount and Blade is finally being released? Probably one of the best indie games out there.

Graphics look like 2004, I heard the gameplay was pretty good.

On a side note, I'll probably buy BiA:HH (on PC - it's being released a week later : /) but it's come out at a really bad time. It would be a good game any other time of the year, but it's up against Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, Gears 2, Crysis Warhead, and many more.

M&B's graphics aren't bad when you add some graphics mods.

To be honest, I can't financially justify all the games I would want to buy at the moment, but if I could it would be:

Kirby Superstar - you spelt Kirby wrong :(
Lego Batman
Sim City Creator
BIA - even if it is published by Ubisoftz.

Too many games. I mean, we had a really slow summer. It just doesn't seem to be boxing clever to release a game like Samba during this period. It's going to be so overshadowed by everything else, I think.

Sad but true about Samba...I'm going to buy it anyway, though, simply because it's as close as I'll get for the time being to a new Space Channel 5.

And that's from an objective standpoint. A hand-drawn fully animated 2D side-scroller or another World War II FPS (and not the best of the WWII FPSes, either)

Holy hell. And de Blob, Sim City Creator, Mega Man 9, Samba Di Amigo, and LEGO Batman?

Probably the first time in a long time that Wii actually comes out ahead.

Kirby and Disgaea DS, too. Too bad Wario > all of that too...

Wipeout HD game of the week!

I will get Hell's Highway. Im getting pretty tired of COD4 and it should be a good shooter. The developer diaries on the game made me want it even more. Gearbox is a great developer.

That HH cover looks badass. Anyway, first day buy for me.

If i had any money, i would be all over Lego Batman, de Blob, Wario Land, Samba de Amigo, Lost in Blue, Kirby SSU, and Rhapsody.

sadly i am a poor bastard thus i will go with none of the above :(

A new Civ game isn't considered can't miss? That doesn't make sense.

Just put BIA on top of my Q. SW:TFU is taking forever to get here so Ill give this a go.

Ill just say the TFU was underrated. It was a perfect rental. I had a lot of fun with it. and Im only a medium Star Wars fan .

PS - for anyone who bitched about all games on the 360 being shades of brown and gray, this game has some of the coolest environments, with lots of color.

Hells Highway is probably shite then i guess, none of the previews or videos have filled me with confidence.
If it was a 9/10'er, there would be "exclusive" reviews out by now.

Truly, gaming has become such a powerhouse example of capitalism's ability to prey on impulse that I've had to start thinking long and hard about game-buying strategies. It almost takes the fun out of gaming. :-(

I wish I could afford all the games I want this week.
Wario Land, Samba, de Blob (rental first), Lego Batman, Kirby, Time Hollow, My Japanese Coach and Megaman 9!

That's pushing $300 in games alone! Yeesh.

Just a hunch, but I would probably wait a little while on Japanese Coach (and believe me, I want that one too). I imagine it won't stay at its full price for too long, and if it does, finding a used copy might be easier as people give up on it.

For the record, I tried Chinese Coach a few weeks ago and while in principle it seems like a good setup, it's sketchy on some of the basics like "no transliterated text" (that is, you'll often be seeing romanized text, when it's usually best to stick to the glyphs for memorization). Also, Chinese is freaking HARD.

Very nice month. Picking for suere: Wario Land, deBlob, Samba de Amigo, Rhapsody and Kirby.

And maybe Lego Batman for the 360.

I really want to play Time Hollow, but I will wait for a price drop.

There are a lot of upcoming games next months... actually, the DS is the system I'm going to spend more money. Too many good games for the DS.

I know the street date has been busted just about everywhere but doesn't Pure "officially come out this week?

I'm just waiting for the reviews for BIA: Hell's Highway. If they're good, I'll probably get it. I am trying to save my money for some of my more anticipated releases though such as Fable II, Gears 2, Resistance 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, LittleBigPlanet, and the list goes on.

BTW, is it just me or does the guy in the center look like he bit his tongue and the guy to the right is doing a facepalm?

Whoa, BiA is finally out? I remember downloading a gameplay vid for this thing shortly after the 360's launch. Sheesh.
