Quantum of Solace granted on Nov. 4, pre-order nets map pack

Activision has also announced that those who pre-order the game from GameStop will receive a download token, redeemable for a forthcoming multiplayer map pack. In addition to "a variety of classic modes," Quantum of Solace will grant you a view to a team kill in several modes, including "Bond Versus," "Bond Evasion," and "Golden Gun." Note that this bonus applies to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions -- this isn't the spy who loved Wii.
Alright, no more idiotic puns and references. We've got to save some for next year, you know.

I would have never gone to a SAW reference when looking at that screen? What's up Ludwig, got torture porn on the mind?
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Sep 22nd 2008 6:53PM
Well, I did just finish playing Eternal Sonata.
Xero @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:50AM
@Ludwig. I have absolutely no idea what the connection with torture porn and Eternal Sonata is, but i still could not help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the comment. bravo.

how'd my comment miss?

I'll never understand why everyone fell all over themselves praising Casino Royale. A Bond who can't even tail someone without being spotted, who is completely inept and who breaks down in tears when his chick dies ... and banana-boobs Eva Green trying to be hot. Seriously, whoever put that dress on her needs to be fired. Plunging neckline just showed that her tits are basically on her feet now.
Jakka(A tribute to whose who fought and failed during the Epic Flamewar of L.A. Noir) @ Sep 22nd 2008 6:33PM
Bear in mind CR is canonically the first movie/book in the series.
Now the reason why I hated it is because Craig sucks as Bond imo.
Mike @ Sep 22nd 2008 6:40PM
Wrong!
JeepersCreepers712 @ Sep 22nd 2008 6:42PM
I loved the Casino Royale Bond. It's a new Bond, it's his origin. This is why he becomes the cold skilled Bond you'll know him to be eventually.
Bass Masterson @ Sep 22nd 2008 6:53PM
The thing is, you have to explain how you understand the fiction.
Logically it can't be the first Bond. It's in the modern times with Dame Judy Quench-Your-Thirst as equal-opportunity-M. So it had to occur after Pierce Brosnan's Bond.
That means you have to accept they went through all those Bonds, then settled on a Skeletor-looking screen void named Daniel Craig whose agent is so utterly inept he can't follow someone without being spotted, can barely fight, cries at the drop of a hat, and so on.
If you try and pitch this as an "exists in its own universe" Bond, it's still a hard sell because it's such a wuss of a character.
You know why this was a big hit? Because people are way too pussified nowadays. It was a hit because Bond cried and was stupid and inept. That's the kind of movies people want now. They don't want strong heroes, they want effeminate, emasculated, ineffectual anti-heroes. Count me out.
Bourne is so much better, even with the ridiculous concept of ignoring a world full of real enemies to make the enemies OURSELVES!
Obie @ Sep 22nd 2008 7:23PM
Then go watch "Moonraker" then. Kthxbye.
Lone Starr @ Sep 22nd 2008 7:24PM
Do you know what a banana looks like?
JeepersCreepers @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:41PM
So basically you're saying that he's too little like the Bond you know. So? It's entertaining. If they named it something else, like Spy Agent Max (or XXX with Vin Diesel), you'd knock it for being too much of a Bond film. You call it a Bond film, and it's not Bond enough. Makes no sense.
"It was a hit because Bond cried and was stupid and inept. That's the kind of movies people want now. They don't want strong heroes, they want effeminate, emasculated, ineffectual anti-heroes. Count me out."
-Effeminate? Cries at the drop of a hat? Dude was having his BALLS crushed in while laughing and jaunting his torturer. Explain to me how that's an emasculated hero? Then there's the whole contradictory statement you make of saying he cries too easy, then you call him ineffectual for crying when the girl dies. Do you know what the words you're using mean, or did you copy and paste something from message board somewhere else?
I'm pretty the reason why this Bond worked is because he's Human. He's real. Unlike the 80s action heroes. Unlike the old womanizing Bond. I realize that's what Bond is for a lot of people, but I'm pretty sure that's why they reimaged him. That's a dated hero.
Always feel sorry for people when they have trained themselves to hate entertainment because it's cool. You been angry and disappointed, I'll continue on enjoying my over-analyzed entertainment.

'Rebooting' is the most idiotic idea to ever hit Hollywood. Hey, we have no new ideas ... let's remake the same thing with different actors!
The funny thing is each time they do it, the timeline gets shorter. They 'rebooted' Hulk. They 'rebooted' Batman. They're planning to 'reboot' Superman (again!) along with Robocop, Spiderman ...
The fact that the old Bond model didn't work anymore doesn't make a 'reboot' automatically good, particularly when the new version is just a bunch of tired crap.
And having one scene of toughness - which itself was just an excuse to put Craig's bare ass on the movie screen - doesn't excuse the general effeminate nature of the character. He was a complete wimp, and they have him act tough for one scene, then he's back to being an ineffectual lame wimp.
We all know who's to blame for the new Bond. It's Bourne. It's the fact that the first Bourne movie had one line that every critic creamed their jeans over - the "look what they make you give!" line that everybody claimed made the movie "human" and "real", which they milked again in the third movie. Bond is trying to out-Bourne-Bourne by being more whiny and juvenile and childish. It's the problem with male action heroes in a post-feminist world. All they did was swap the roles: women get the strong roles, men get the weak ones.
Xero @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:01AM
@Bass
Well, you are so inept that your ineptness causes the truly inept to seem less inept than someone as inept as you. Seriously, is Inept today's word on your "Word-a-Day" calendar?
And at your actual argument, if reboots are so stupid, explain the phenomenon that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are. They are obviously "stupid" as you say.
And the fact that you argue that about reboots at all shows how stupid you are, because you know that CR is a reboot of Bond, as you imply it in your comment, so the fact that the new Bond is so "Insert today's word-of-the-day here" should not be surprising. Do you think Bond started out as a super agent/spy? It would be kind of stupid to show him as a hardened agent on his first mission as a 00 agent. You sir, are retarded.

it took a minute but i see how the saw reference fits. should i post "i saw what you did there"?

pass. too many other (better) FPS's out there for me. don't need another Bond game unless it surpasses GoldenEye...
spyker @ Sep 22nd 2008 7:44PM
Ugh. What a great pre-order bonus, but on a game I want but really think I need to wait for reviews. This is an iffy game. Could be good or bad.
Al2x @ Sep 22nd 2008 7:51PM
I like this idea for pre-ordering...Now lets just hope that this map pack isn't shelled out a week after release to make a quick nickel and dime off consumers.
