WiiWare adds Mega Man 9 and an utter mystery
We knew that today would be the day, but still, it feels a little momentous: We, the one-man staff of WiiWare Weekly, are proud to announce ... that there's a good, exclusive game on WiiWare: Mega Man 9 (Capcom, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) will be available at noon today. Yeah, it's only exclusive for three days, but it's exclusive for now, and you can't take that away from us.
As if to counterbalance the modicum of confidence we can place in WiiWare with Mega Man's arrival, he'll be showing up with (we kid you not) PLÄTTCHEN twist 'n' paint (Bplus, 1-8 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points) in tow. According to the release, you'll (we're still not kidding), "Play as one of the countless FantasyMEs and fight as an astronaut, butterfly, car or football against sharks, cowboys, asteroids and skulls in numerous, fabulous fantasy Worlds."
... When Haley Joel Osment finally finishes that biopic about the brilliant yet cripplingly autistic boy who manages to create a WiiWare game every week, we imagine the part where his game PLÄTTCHEN twist 'n' paint is released with Mega Man 9 will be the equivalent of "the big game."

jimmygotsmack @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:16AM

Jack of No Trades 85 @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:28AM
Damn this game will bring back some great memories.
Man, I miss those day when I had no responsibilities, no job, no grown up bullshit & the only only thing I had to worry about was a game.
Young_Nastyman @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:32AM

Jonah Falcon @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:56AM
Collapsing block game, basically.
GalileoAce @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:37AM
Cripplingly autistic?
mr nimblewick @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:42AM
As opposed to asperger syndrome.
Harlock @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:37AM
* I can choose between wiiware and psn version. The wiimote is more like the classic nes controller. But none review talks about differences with hd graphics in PS3.
DangerMouse @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:41AM
I heard the 360 version is only 640p. DON"T BUY IT!@$
Mr Khan @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:10AM
It'll only be barebones scaled HD, just enough to keep it from being jaggie as hell. All versions are a port of the Wii version.
peepoop @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:10AM
Wii version looks "most appropriate" according to most reviews.
Obie @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:45AM
BUY BUY BUY!
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:46AM

Justin McElroy @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:58AM
And you did a great job with it too. Seriously, it's first-rate.
kiwi @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:02AM
Are you THE Jonah Falcon? Talkin' Yankees, Howard Stern, almost ruined George Takei's marriage Jonah?
If so... how about this weather we've been havin?
Mr Khan @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:19AM
One of (if not THE) first announced WiiWare games, as i recall.
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:35AM

LOL Justin. Nah, all I did was do a web search - there's a Wikipedia page. In addition, there's only 200 videos on YouTube.

I believe that twist 'n' paint will surprise a lot of people when it outsells Mega Man 3:1. For you skeptics out there let's break it down:
In twist 'n' paint, you can play with up to eight people; Mega Man is a single player experience.
Twist 'n paint lets you choose between several characters and allows you to fight the most diverse collection of enemies that I have ever seen in a video game. Mega Man on the other hand has only robots fighting each other. (cliche *yawn*)
With all of its features PLÄTTCHEN twist 'n' paint should cost twice as much as Mega Man, or perhaps the price of Mega Man should be lowered to better match its lack of features.
j/k GO MEGA MAN!!
&rew @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:33AM
Oh mega man, it seems like it was just last week when Mega Man 2 was released...
oh right.
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:36AM
GEE, WHAT A COINCIDENCE. Oh, wait. No, it wasn't a coincidence.
LongshotX @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:36AM
I was waiting for this game in 1997 after megaman 8 came out for psone. Now that I have seen how 9 looks I think I will pass.
Adam @ Sep 22nd 2008 12:57PM
Oh look, a graphics whore.

Roto13 @ Sep 22nd 2008 1:27PM
I have a couple of the natural ones already (seriously, who isn't going to beat at least one boss with the Mega Buster?) but I think some of those are going to be out of my reach. xP
Mike Riollano @ Sep 22nd 2008 1:47PM
i'd love to play it. but there's that little wi-fi adapter in the wii that fucking sucks. seriously, why put a wi-fi adapter in that only works 40% of the time. lan adapter, here i come.
LeChuck @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:30PM
Wasn't Plattchen the first ever announced WiiWare game? What took it so long? We just found out about MegaMan 9 recently and they come out on the same day. Weird.
