Sony announced today that Frank Castle will be, as rumored, returning to video games. The surprise? He'll be doing it exclusively on PSN in Punisher: No Mercy. The Unreal Engine 3-based title is being developed by Zen Studios, of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Mushroom Men fame.
Though we mentioned Frank Castle earlier, we doubt all of you will get to play as the titular Punisher, as the first-person shooter promises "intense arena-based multiplayer action" featuring characters like Jigsaw, Bushwacker, Barracuda and Silver Sable. We haven't heard or seen nearly enough to pass judgment, but what we've got now just leaves us befuddled. Help us figure it all out with your perspective in the comments.

Rocky & Bullwinkle blew. Mushroom Men looks interesting.
With that in mind, I have no idea what to say about this, except that the Punisher is a pretty cool character... and I don't have a PS3 dammit. :(

As long as it doesn't punish the gamer, that's all that matters.

Regardless if this game is good or not, I love this trend of developers putting larger games on PSN. I think that I speak for a good majority of international folk who may live outside of the major video game territories (US, Europe, Japan) that it's much easier and cheaper to just buy a game on PSN, than to import one, or pay your country's outlandish prices. I live in The Bahamas, and even though our dollar is worth the same as the US dollar, it's still a pain having to pay duty, and stamp tax on games. A PAIN!

Yeah, I'm really sure a cartoon tie-in game and something that has yet to prove itself are worth being noted for...
Man, what's with PS3 and shooters? It's like that's all there is on the system!

fuck this, they should just do an HD rendition of the game that tied in with the last movie. That had the perfect amount of violence and vigilante justice, a PSN shovelware FPS is just a bad idea
