Ubisoft sneaking Tenchu 4 into America, Europe in '09

Aside from offering two playable characters and the ability to "fight, dash, jump and kill like a true ninja," the Wii exclusive is almost certain to provide one of the most novel uses of the nunchuk yet -- you know, as a nunchuk. Probably.
Either way, Ubisoft is confident enough in Tenchu 4's merits to lay down a fairly specific prediction in the press release: "Tenchu 4 will come to a North American and European audience where it will be well-received by both fans of the series as well as Wii owners who have been looking for an edgy and exciting game." It will be well-received ... hmm, perhaps it's more of a command?

Wow. That's the most ridiculous graphic I've ever seen.
MowDownJoe @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:49PM
It's recycled from the last Tenchu 4 post Ludwig did. It's 10 shoes in the shape of a number 4.
Josh @ Sep 24th 2008 2:22AM
Ooooooooh, *now* I see it.
jumpshot @ Sep 24th 2008 10:26AM
I think it's brilliant. Just as funny the second time around.
FOXHOUND @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:33PM
I think I used some of those TENCHU moves playing MARIO STRIKERS CHARGED earlier this year; using the remote+nunchuck combination to jokingly choke a friend of mine for causing us to lose a championship game. :p
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:36PM
This is the first game that made me think about buying a Wii... I'll wait until reviews come out thoguh
Mr Khan @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:41PM
and MadWorld didn't make you bat an eye?
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:58PM
I don't mean to sound like an ass but I was completely dis-interested in Mad World.
That doesn't have anything do with the fact that it is on the Wii
Foetoid @ Sep 24th 2008 10:21AM
Wow aren't you hard to please. If a picky hardcore gamer like myself can name 20 quality titles off the top of his head (and i've been playing games for 23 years, i have standards) then anyone can. I can't possibly imagine anyone picky enough to not find half-a-dozen Wii games worth owning.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:40PM
Inferior to pirates, indeed.
After all, Guybrush Threepwood was never a ninja. :)
FOXHOUND @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:45PM
And let's face it... that series was infinitely more amusing and probably easier to remake for the Wii than TENCHU. :o
Mr Khan @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:40PM
Still the best visual pun, imo.
Also: Early 2009 is bringing the goods in a big way. I wouldn't call Tenchu a must-buy (the series hasn't been more than mediocre in a while), but it is, if i may quote myself from earlier today "worthy of note"
I myself see three games in early 09: Sonic Black Knight, MadWorld, and The Conduit, and we'll see what else the future holds for this already glorious span of time.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:52PM
I've been thinking "who the hell is this guy with the Wario avatar" so I looked at your profile and nearly smacked myself after seeing you have about 4800 posts.
I know who you are now... I just never knew for sure what that was in your previous avatar.
Mr Khan @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:55PM
Just to wreak a little havoc, i switch names when i switch avatars, but since the system updates avatars to apply to all posts past and present, its a little transparent
baby sea tuna @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:53PM
Next, you should try switching up game systems. It'd be nice to not hear about how much you want to blow Miyamoto and company every 5 minutes.
WRE @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:09PM
And then, maybe baby sea tuna should switch up insults. It's almost as if he wants to watch as someone (anyone!) blows Miyamoto...
Mr Khan @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:30PM
That was uncalled for
Willeth @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:40PM
Good Christ. That post image is hilarious!
Titanium_Orchid @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:59PM
Tenchu 4 should just appear on shelves one day... like a real ninja video game should
samfish @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:06PM
The Wise & Venerable Sega Saturn would like to console (get it? GET IT??) against that.

J.Goodwin @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:15PM
If only James Ransom-Wiley could come up with something half as funny.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:27PM
Man, I hope Ubisoft doesn't cut anything from this like they did with the last Japanese-made Wii game they localized, No More Heroes.
samfish @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:57PM
They'll probably remove everything but the Catz.
baby sea tuna @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:58PM
Oh, that explains so much! They must have cut the collision detection, textures, ambient art assets, gameplay variations, and general polish out in the localization process.
Foetoid @ Sep 24th 2008 10:25AM
Lol Tuna. You get +1 just for being such a massive troll. For someone who hates on the Wii so much (i've been playing games for 23 years and besides the N64, it's the best console i've touched) you sure enjoy coming to a news article purely related to a Wii game. Next you'll be saying Mario Galaxy doesn't deserve it's spot in the top 3 games of all time (Note: check out Metacritic and Gamerankings)
Jack of All Trades @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:07PM
Yep, that's a ten-shoe four, alright.
ihateemo @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:23PM
Oh man....the last Tenchu game was so bad. I really enjoyed the first one on the original Playstation. I can't believe how bad Z was.
Kryptinite @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:24PM
Tennis Shoe 4....ICWATUDIDTHUR
Brian Dochney @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:46PM
What type of shoe is that? because i think it looks like a Nintendo Wii and I'd like to buy a pair.
Trulz @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:13PM
No, but seriously. What kind of shoes are those? I like them.
J.Goodwin @ Sep 23rd 2008 4:19PM
Reebok float:
http://www.myairshoes.com/reebok/reebok-float.html
Protip: Photoshops are generally composed of images from the first page of google's image result for whatever they were. In this case, the search "shoe" returned the shoe in question on the first page of results.
doc j @ Sep 24th 2008 2:23AM
I have those shoes.
Sidepocket @ Sep 25th 2008 4:38AM
Pssst, Ubisoft.
If you publish a game made from someone else and it is good...it does not count to the "Nintendo Quality" Wii Titles you claim.
