Unlock Fable 2 Achievements by seeing, not doing
The official Fable 2 Achievements have been unveiled, and it appears the previous rumor from August was pretty accurate. Even The Swinger (i.e. "Take part in a debauched bedroom party with several participants.") is still in there. However, there's an added note in about 30 of the Achievements, specifying the ability to earn them simply by watching someone else (i.e. another hero in a world you visit via online co-op) fulfill the requirement. Despite the lack of surprise, we are genuinely excited to being rather vice-full in our quest to obtain all 1000 Gamerscore points.

Hmm. On the one hand I think that this is a very neat idea.
On the other hand, I can't help but wonder whether Lion Head Studios put this condition into the achievements so that it can boost the sale of the game to all the achievement whores who would not otherwise play this game...
flameofdoom666 @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:12AM
That is not why at all.
It is because of the moral system. They didn't want to punish people for wanting to go the bad route- you can get any achievement no matter what you do.
SneezyPorcupine @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:48PM
But then that in itself defeats the purpose of the moral system. I think it's better when you make a choice but also have to live with the consequences of it. Besides, they had already said that Fable 2 will have the Orbs so you can go back and play any part of the game again. In turn, you can then reverse your choice.
In game, when you choose to do something, you should as a result be able or be denied of doing other things. These achievements will only circumvent the moral system as opposed to promote the whole "it's all about choices" theme this game had all along.

I like to watch.
Zorink @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:06AM
There should be specific co-op ones instead of this broken system. I like the achievements, but not the getting them by just watching.
example - The Romantic co-op would be replaced with 'The Third Wheel'. Maybe if you help your friend get the date there could be a 'Wingman' achievement.

That's pretty lame. Dare I say it is worse then the "kill a developer or someone who has killed a developer"?
DeLarge @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:17AM
The Player: Bring a villager home, or watch another..Hero do ....so
MagiKarp @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:33AM
Reptar?! Is that you?!
Philip (Fernando Rocker Defence Force) @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:19AM
I think it's a good idea. If I do some thing in co-op I don't want to have to waste time watching my friend do it as well or vice-versa.
Dr Scientist @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:43AM
There is one achievement in Castle Crashers that my friend received kinda by watching. It was the Conscientious Objector one, go through three of the beginner areas without attacking an enemy. We were going to take turns being the attacker/objector, but he got the reward the first time through just by me not attacking. This was in online co-op.
tmmoore_nc @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:36AM
That's kinda interesting. Achievements for doing nothing.
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:58AM
It's to encourage co-op.
propanol @ Sep 23rd 2008 6:18AM
Can't wait for the "boot up the game"-achievement...!
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:59AM
The Simpsons Game has the "press start" achievement already ("Easiest Achievement Ever".)
Snowblind @ Sep 23rd 2008 7:24AM
I don't really see the problem with these. If you're playing through the game on co-op, you probably don't want to waste time by BOTH doing every little thing like this.
And if you're playing by yourself, it doesn't matter anyway.
flameofdoom666 @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:14AM
All of you are missing the point. It is Fable- the game of CHOICE. You simply cant get some achievements if you want to be 'good' or 'bad.' They worked around it, which is fantastic!
KingOfGods @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:30AM
I don't understand why no one gets that...If I'm trying to be evil why would I want to do good things.
Plus how are you supposed to watch if you are playing alone so it doesn't really matter. It gives you the choice if you don't want to ruin your characters rep.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 23rd 2008 9:50AM
You mean after you complete the game... the disc explodes preventing you from replaying?
Vcize @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:28AM
Metal_Gear, have you seen the fall lineup? There's no time for multiple playthroughs of anything if people are going to get through all these games.
ice~ @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:26AM
OMG. so I get an achievement for watching my friend have an orgi!!!!!!!! Sweet buttercups!
juju187 @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:54AM
so if your playing a good virgin charater you can see your evil friend have all the fun....
dark_inchworm @ Sep 23rd 2008 9:04AM
The Noob - 0 G - Watch another Hero HACK UR LIVE ACCOUNT LOL
Duke @ Sep 23rd 2008 9:58AM
I just can't figure out how that was funny. I tried. It just doesn't work.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:19AM
Admittedly, I was feelin' a bit weak with that one.
But hey, I can't figure out why you would waste your precious time just to cut someone down for attempted humor. So we're on even ground.
Duke @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:14PM
Touche!
infernus @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:36AM
Anyone else think this is gonna be a bit awkward? Heh.
