"We don't have the bandwidth." That's the explanation Valve co-founder Gabe Newell offered up when poked by 1UP for answers regarding the company's lack of PlayStation 3 support. Put another way: "We don't have PlayStation developers," marketing director Doug Lombardi explained. While hardly a new revelation, Valve's dilemma continues to prevent the company from creating in-house PS3 content.
In the short term, this means -- for the last time -- no Left 4 Dead on PS3, and also, no Team Fortress 2 updates. But...? Uh-uh. "They're not doing ongoing development on The Orange Box for the PS3." They, of course, is EA, developer of the PS3 version of The Orange Box. Once again, Newell talks out of his ass while stuffing his face.

PS3's bandwidth does suck though....it sure as hell takes a bloody long time to download Pure, Mercenaries 2, and Fracture. Left it on all day while at work and it still wasn't finished.
besides, I already have TheOrangeBox for my x360. MGS4 currently resides in my PS3...plenty of games for all my systems...

I think you've mis-understood the 'bandwidth' statement.
I think he's matching the word 'bandwidth' with having 'no PS3 developers in Valve'..... it's a clever play on words.
Anyway, it'd be nice to have Valve developing for PS3 and as a PS3 owner I'm a little unhappy about the current situation but I'd be happy for EA to continue to convert as I was happy with the Orange Box on PS3 and EA is improving over time. Saying that, comparing EA with KONAMI or the devs behind Resistance or LBP shows just how far EA has to go.

Time for sleep...
And I must say. Killjebus and I might be on total opposite fields when it comes to gaming but I swear to God nothing cracks me up more than when he talks politics on this blog.
Just CLASSIC.
And I'm gonna have to start using Palin as a substitute for lie as well in real life. It's just too good to pass up on.

Funny that when it comes to politics gaming bias takes a back seat.

Valve doesn't like the ps3. We've known this for how long now? And yet there's all this outrage and hate still. Jesus christ people let it go or go buy a 360 if you care about valve games that much.

They made a decision of focusing on PC development, not only on gaming but on digital distribution. If EA doesn't want to provide ongoing support for their port, that's their business.
I made a choice of staying on PC gaming, and this way I'm not taking the hit.

I would think that a mod-friendly developer like Valve would gravitate towards the PS3 more than the 360, since the PS3 supports mods for games (see UT3).
Here's my dilemma in regards to the upcoming Left 4 Dead game:
I really like my 360 but there won't be any mods for it.
I really like my PC, but there won't be any rumble in the controls.
I really like my PS3, but there won't be any Left 4 Dead for it.
Kinda a bummer all around..

In other related news, I blame freeweights for being too heavy to bother lifting, gravity for allowing me to fall down after I've had too much Vodka [also, it's the Vodka's fault]. Also, I think Gabe must've been raped by a Sony Walkman when he was a child.

Probably late to comment, but... VALVE MAKES PC GAMES. That's games for the PC. The only reason their games hit consoles is because porting them to console can make them more money. They're not particularly serious about their console ports, and the only reason they happen to focus more on the Xbox than the PS2 is because it's a much easier platform. Do you know what Valve time is? Vale almost always takes up to twice (or more) times longer than they say they will to release a game; with all the difficulty there is to make a game on the PS3 (it being a new platform and all), Valve would probably need years of research to fully understand PC development. Valve wouldn't want to make just your standard crappy port that a developer like EA would be happy with; that's why they handed it off. Sure, Valve doesn't care about the PS3, but Valve doesn't really seem to care about consoles in general.

A series of errors.. PS2 should be PS3 and at one point I said PC instead of PS3.
