Virtually Free: Mega Man 9

What is this? Could we be doing what you think we're doing? Oh yeah, baby, we totally are. We're giving one lucky Wii Fanboy reader a free copy of Capcom's retro-revival, Mega Man 9 ($10). It's too good of a game to keep to ourselves, so we reached deep down into the Wii Fanboy coffers (it's just a coffee can under our bed, but you get the idea) and sprung for enough points to gift the game out. How do you enter for your chance at the game?

To enter, just leave a comment here (with a valid e-mail address!) and tell us what your favorite Mega Man boxart is (hit up the gallery below if you missed this). There's a catch, though. You must be a current and legal resident of the United States with an American Wii (sorry, Canadians, we have to leave you out of this one; blame the gifting system and not us!) and 18 years of age or older. You may enter once per day between now and Sunday, September 28th at 11:59pm ET. The contest comes to a close that night and we'll select a winner via random drawing the next day. Questions? Definitely the original boxart, its just utterly wrong.

The first is still the best. I remember buying the game and then being relieved that Mega Man did not resemble the strange looking older man on the box.

Mega Man 1, of course! I like all the japanese boxarts with the anime Mega Man and robot masters, but the original US MM boxart is too hilarious,

I like the European Mega Man 2 box art the best since it's nothing close to the sprites used in the game.

The new Megaman 9 art is pretty awesome.

Mega Man 1 (showing off his mega squatting ability), it's just so wrong.

Megaman 2 has the best boxart. That's actually the First Megaman Game I ever played.

I'm actually going to pick Europe's original Mega Man art work. To me, this is funnier than the American one. Who doesn't like low-budget kung fu-style artwork?

The European Mega Man 1 box is amazing

Mega Man 1. I remember seeing it on the shelf at Video Kingdom as a kid and thinking "what....the....fu....." and then taking it home and having a ton of fun with it....until Wily's level. Argh!

Mega Man 5 (Playstation, Japan) would be my pick

mega man 3, with the guy from back to the future overlooking the mega crew.

The first Mega Man box is my favorite. It looks perfect for a poster in any fake wood paneled basement rec room.

definitly the cover to mega man 6. i dont know why i just liked the rush adapters i guess and him flying with it.

The inclusion of the Fruit Friend on the MM9 box is just too funny.

The Japanese Playstation Mega Man 2 cover art. Though Mega Man's smiling face is a bit odd, the way the robot masters are drawn is simply awesome (heatman, flashman....very cool).

BTW, I already downloaded Mega Man 9. I just wanted to post a response :)

Wow. Gotta be the very first US Mega Man. The boxart was just so terrible it was great...

Probably Mega Man 2, as that's the first boxart I remember...I didn't see the original Mega Man boxart until I was...oh...last year... ;-)

Best bad Megaman boxart? That European MM2 boxart with Megaman as some sort of knight with a sawn-off lance. Not to mention the complete lack of any enemy in the game - instead we get giant metal dragons and such.

MegaMan 2 for sure. I never actually owned MM1 just played my friend's or the ROM but I loved MM2 and MM3 to death. And 2's cover is more silly w/ the Mega "Man" and not the MegaMan we all know and love.

Megaman 2

My favorite is definitely the Mega Man(Europe) box art. With the Mega Man 9 box art a close second.

My favorite is the American version of Mega Man 9. It makes me feel like it's 1986.

The Japanese PS version of Mega Man 3.

Rockman for PSX. Simple, clean and evocative.
