A battery indicator, like a cell phone or iPod. I'm color-blind, and I don't always notice the light changing to red until the DS shuts off.

Also, I notice that when the light comes on, it's random as to how much remaining time you have left. Sometimes, I can play for another half hour, and other times, the DS shuts off in a few seconds.

I have two:

-Be able to project SNES games (somehow)
-Be backwards compatible with GBC games w/o the use of an emulator.

That, and/or, a good bottom slot for Lite, the first's d-pad, a less smudge prone screen, SNES/N64 Classics a la NES classics for GBA, the TV add on localized, the ability to take VC games/Mega Man 9 on the go if you keep it in sleep mode and Mega Man 10, or, TWEWY 2-1,000,000. Don't get me started about the next handheld gen *cough cough overdue cough*.

How about better touch screens?? Ones that can truly be used by your finger and without the need of a stylus???? And since we are just imagining things, how about it taps into that whole "untapped" frequency of waves google is fighting over and gets online ANYWHERE for free. Now thats ballin, just dont call it the n-gage...

Amen to that, yo... I don't enjoy compromising my wireless security in order to play Mario Kart online...

• Better WiFi
• Backwards compatibility with GB/GBC for ultimate Nintendo gaming.
• Bigger, brighter screens.
• Better audio input and output.

Other than that, it's *perfect.*

Screens larger than 256x224 pixels for perfect NES emulation (with no scaling at all in the graphics!)

Larger YBXA buttons, and with more spacing between than. For GOD... I can't play platform games who use Y+B combo (Like Contra, for example) because since the Sega Genesis advent, I quit playing with my right thumb.

If I have several fingers, please let me use one for each button... ha ha. Thumb playing makes me sick.

Cospefogo.

Higher quality audio. What with all the homebrew, Electroplankton, and Korg DS-10... even Let's Yoga... I'm really feeling let down by the noisy, lo-fi audio output. Sometimes it's cool, but as a musician I want to *control* that.

And two touch screens, rather than one touch and one passive. I don't care about multitouch.

Some internal storage and the ability to import your Virtual Console games (except maybe N64 games I guess) to it to play on the go. :P Also including the ability to transfer game saves back and forth.

It would be nice for them to offer some sort of standard card that could be downloaded to (one that is recognized by Nintendo, and not complete crap).

If they could then have a download store online that you could purchase games, a la XBox Live Arcade, etc. So you purchase games online and play them on your DS. I'm not asking for that to be the exclusive way of purchasing games, but it would be nice as an option for smaller games.

More internal memory instead of the paltry 4mb. That might allow for better (more compatible) emulators.
The new PSP upped their RAM, so it is possible to do this without have to re-tool any existing games.

I'd like to see them upgrade the buttons, particularly the shoulder buttons. I've had to send in five DSes for shoulder button repair. I've never had to send in a PSP for that.

Better speakers!!!! more volume for the headphones!!
Also a slight boost to the 3d graphics can be a nice touch.

I think that's all....

Sturdier hardware. A more durable touch screen, better buttons, and a plastic shell which isn't so prone to hinge cracks.

-better sound quality (the CG introduction to FF4 shows the dire new for this)

-better shoulder buttons (yup, I too have had problems with them)

-VC downloading onto a flash cart for playing on the DS (i doubt nintendo would ever do this, but it is a great idea!)

-usage of bigger carts (2gig) (which means better and longer games, preferably without a price alteration...haha yes i'm dreaming here =P)

A home button, so you can switch tasks without having to turn the DS off and so you can check the battery life, time and other details.
Also an intergrated organizer, virtual console and a memory card slot to store VC games, music and video to play on your DS.

I want my DS to have the capacity to love, so that I, the gamer, have the ability to hurt it emotionally if I so choose.

- updatable ROM, so we can download (over internet) new firmware with new features (and of course Nintendo updating the DS firmware)
- WPA/WPA2 support for Wireless
- Web browser built-in, with Flash support
- MP3/WMA player buit-in
- Video player built-in
- SD/SDHC card slot
- Picture slideshow - put SD card from your camera into DS and show the pictures, on both screens :-)
- Skype/Windows Live Messenger software built-in
- Video output so I can connect it to TV
- Most of the points upward would require more RAM, but this is more technical than feature request
- Bigger displays
- DS contains calendar and clock, so built-in organizer with possible ActiveSync synchronization with computer would be really nice touch.
- public API and development tools, that would enable anyone to make/port apps for DS
- last, better hardware could bring fancier games and I believe that now, 4 years after introducing the first DS, it would be affordable to put there faster CPU etc.
