LEGO Batman launch event transforms Museum of Natural History into carnival
The American Museum of Natural History is known for being one of the most prestigious ... wait, is that a giant Batman made out of Legos? Yes, the fine folks behind the LEGO Batman video game have somehow managed to turn the sacred Museum grounds into a carnival, filled with good ol' fashioned carnival games. Popcorn, hotdog and suspect lemonade were all on hand as kids and games journalists of all ages partook in all sorts of classics like, er, whatever this game is.
Quite possibly the most attractive display at the event was this mini-warehouse, littered with various LEGO Batman characters. Quite possibly the most deadly display were the cupcakes, with not-so-edible Batman and Joker characters on top. (We found out the hard way. Ouch.)

They're just selling out to make a little money. It could be worse... they could have changed the name to Lego Batman The Video Game Presents: The American Museum of Natural History.

Your "whatever this game is" is a classic carnival game where you have to push the ball with enough force to that it rolls over the little hill in front of you, stays in the trough, and doesn't roll back over the little hill in front of you and coming back to the starting position. Too little power, and you don't clear the first hill; too much, and it will re-clear the hill on its way back. It's one of those ridiculously hard games that many accuse of being "rigged." Actually, given Newton's first law, I think it's probably physically impossible to win unless the track has been allowed to lose its smooth finish, increasing friction.

It looks and sounds like a game I played at the state fair when I was a kid. It was called Bowler Roller, though it probably has various names in different places. And I actually did win it once, surprisingly enough. I remember it because it was the only one of those carnival games I ever won. (Sorry if this appears twice... I had a wi-fi connection problem when I tried posting it the first time.)

Nana-nana-nana-nana-nana-nana-na, Batman!

Fail. That warehouse isn't made out of lego. I think that's completely missing the whole point of, yknow, toy building blocks? Surely they spent more designing and building that plastic warehouse than they would have paying some genius kid to build one out of lego pieces?

This warehouse in the picture was a $12,000 cake. It tasted great too.
