This might come as a shock to some of you – well, those of you that are easily shocked – but Mirror's Edge marketing cat Martin Frain says the game could sell as many as three million units across three platforms ... and that's his conservative estimate! Why such big numbers, Mr. Frain? He says, "We're being helped immensely, just by the look of the game ... You look at a screenshot of Mirror's Edge, and you know what it is."
There's another game from last year that immediately comes to mind: Assassin's Creed had an immediately recognizable look, was an unproven IP, had mixed reviews, and was released into an unusually busy holiday game season, yet still went on to sell over six million units. So, can EA spark the same interest in this unusually colorful parkour playpen, being released into a similarly frenzied gaming season?

Fenix,
I've personally always liked girls with tattoos. But it does depend on the tattoo. And I've never found Angelina Jolie very pretty... And in Wanted she looked super anorexic and that is gross. But I'm also looking forward to the game as I like platforming and shooting faces off =)

Meh.
Its more of a "wait for reviews" type of game, rather than the insta-buy MUST HAVE NOW pull of R2, LBP, Fallout3 and some others.

I'm not buying it straight away. It's seems interesting but there's too much that could go wrong.
I'll wait for reviews...and then wait a month for all the hype to die down...and then wait another month so that people who criticize it on Joystiq won't be afraid of the Downhammer anymore. Then I'll decide.

WOW...You're really showing EA! I'm sure they will really miss the sale they would have got from you...Actually no they won't, I'll buy 2 to make up for you. It really sucks for you that you hate EA so much, you're going to be missing out on a lot of great games coming up.

In repsonse to your comment bro I wont be missing out I havent missed out for the passed year and a half. I have played a lot of great games and it may be to your surprise but none of them are from EA. seems like your one of many that will buy anything crap EA releases which is your right I cant ge4t mad for that, but I have a right not to buy thier games. Thier a poison in the gaming world.

Oh how exactly that's easy. I dislike the way they make their games around 80% done and force us to wait for updates inorder to fix issues that should have been take care of during the DEVLOPMENT PROCESS. How they release the game game each year with minor tweaks..tweaks that dont even justify paying full price for the game. Oh here's a good one why are thier sports franchises relased every year and they charge the same full price of $65 bucks for it. The sports that are played do not change every year just the players and it should be a crime to pay for something like that, madden is a good example, I stopped buyin madden after what they did with 08 for the ps3 I cant believe that they did that so I sold it back within two days of purchasing it and I will not be buying another madden. I understand that they care about money and not about us that is fine its business but if they want our money then give us a reason to go out and buy your games dont jip us like that and give us lazy made games.

Really? To each his own, but I think Dead Space and this are two of the most exciting, interesting games coming out this year. I definitely don't want to miss them because of some sort of dislike for their publisher

The thing is... Dead Space is probably expecting 1 million or over 1 million... Far Cry 2 is probably expecting 3 millions if not more, so is Fable 2 and Fallout 3. Then what about Gears of War 2 and COD:WAW who are probably expecting a multi-million number in the sold column.
What about Little Big Planet, POP, and GH IV?
That's a lot of people expecting a lot of sells, mainly in the core gamers demographics... And I'm leaving a ton of games out of this short list just because I'm too lazy... What about Resistance 2 and all the sports games and GTA IV DLC? That's a lot of money for entertainment in 3 months or so IMO.
I'm personally going to buy approximately 10 of those games, but I'm the exception rather than the rule.

Maybe he should check out a newspaper. I am afraid that people are not going to be spending nearly as much this holiday season. While the games industry seem untouchable right now, the industry should be setting expectations lower based on the health of the economy and not bragging about how great their sells might be.

I'm pre-ordering it soon. I'm actually cancelling my pre-order for Gears of War 2 and moving it to this. I'd rather support new ideas than sequels (I'll still pick up Gears 2 some day). This and LittleBigPlanet are my next two purchases.
I've been excited about this game since I saw the first screenshots ever, right here on Joystiq. Then once I read the article in Play Magazine, I knew I had to have it.

I like the look of this game a lot, but that has nothing to do with any sort of recognizability factor. I just think the gameplay looks very interesting.
Even so, I'll wait for the reviews like usual, same as I did with Assassin's Creed.

Between all platforms? Maybe. It depends on a lot of different stuff. This is a big holiday season, last year was a big holiday season, but the pacing of big titles was better last year. Here they all seem to be jammed into a space from mid October to the end of November

I think this game will be a turd, especially compared to the other great games being released like fallout 3, fable 2, dead space, farcry 2, silent hill hc.
I think it will look great and be worth one play through, but definitely not a must buy. rental only at best.
