Street Fighter IV boxarted with Chun-Li and Ryu

Recently, Capcom unveiled the box art for a little game known as Street Fighter IV, surprising us with not one but TWO different covers. Yes sir, SFIV will actually sport two separate box art covers, one for the United States and another for Europe. And if you look above, you'll see both covers in all their glory. The left is U.S. The right is Europe. Looks to us like the U.S. got screwed.

that Ryu cover is UUUUUUGLY. Why is his head so small?

wait, how'd we get screwed? We got Chun-li instead of funky doesn't-quite-look-like-Ryu Ryu...

Chun-li one looks better. larger character image, larger Ryu and Ken fighting at the bottom, clearer character montage in the background.

the Ryu one? smaller Ryu, smaller Chun-li and Ken fighting at bottom (when has that fight ever become iconic of SF?), and less clarity on background characters.

both look horrible compared to past SF covers. why not let Udon come up with something?

I pefer the characters in the foreground on the US Box. The art work ain't that great overal though.

The Ryu one would have looked better if not for the odd face, that just kills it for me. So yeah I guess I'm happy we're getting Chun-Li.

I second not being hyped by Street Fighter IV..
the fat guy, another wrestler & the art style of the game looks 'off'.. not a fan..
I'd prefer the Chun Li box too..
if the AI has to simulate a player (ie for Guiles' sonic boom, move back for 3 seconds, etc, instead of instant moves, with realistic reaction times) than I'll be more interested.. could keep me interested for a week or two - won't be interested in any online stuff though..

Chun-Li looks alot better than Ryu so I say we win this round of who has better boxart.

I don't believe that either country got "screwed". Seriously... what's in a cover? Last I checked, it's a street fighter game. SF2's cover featured a knocked out Ryu, flying Blanka and a kicking Chun-Li. All of it was crappy, but the game was still fun as hell. Personally, I'd rather have Chun on the cover but I would have bought it either way. (Who knows, maybe it will be reversable???)

Yeah, I think Chun-Li is the lesser of the two evils. Ryu looks weird, almost like a character from Wallace and Grommit. (spelling?)

well it makes sense that we get chun-li, mostly because the art they chose shows a lot of cleavage. Thats pretty much what sells in the US right?

i see no cleavage. a dress covering cleavage, yes.

sex sells, but well executed composition and color usage makes a good box cover too. the European version has none of these.

Both are just standard box art, in all honesty if you favor one over the other than just print out a new one for yourself.

I think a lot of people have pretty much summed my take on it. The Chun-Li cover looks more polished where the Ryu one looks disproportionate and lacking. I think the US won out between these two covers. Not to mention, Chun-Li just pops out on the cover nicely.

They are both terrible. Let's get some Akuma, please. Oh, and redo the entire layout.

so glad we're getting Chun-Li in the U.S. awsome boxart... and yes... Ryu does look funky... like a monkey...

They probably put Chun-Li to tie in with the movie. >_>
