$130 Mirror's Edge comes with Timbuk2 messenger bag
Sometimes, video games just aren't expensive enough. Sometimes, we'll think to ourselves, "Just $60? What am I going to do with all this money I make blogging about video games?" Sensing our dilemma, EA's offering a pair of extra-spensive Xbox 360 bundles for two of their highest-profile (and most promising!) fall releases. We've already filled you in on the $150 "Ultra Limited Edition" Dead Space bundle but also wanted to showcase this rather fetching messenger bag Mirror's Edge bundle.
$130 bags you the Xbox 360 release of the game along with a ME-themed Timbuk2 messenger bag (read: much nicer than GameStop's preorder bag), complete with Faith's face on the inside flap – just the sort of conversation starter we all want sewn directly into our baggage.

My God...
That's awesome.
Red Leader @ Sep 26th 2008 4:29PM
Agreed! I can't wait to run along walls and jump over/slide under random objects in my path looking awesome with my designer bag at my side.
Richard @ Sep 25th 2008 9:34PM
Seriously? $70 for a messenger bag? It better be lined with gold thread the way the economy is going now.
Numerous @ Sep 25th 2008 9:48PM
Agreed. $70 for a bag with some chick's face plastered on the inside? No thanks.
AoE @ Sep 25th 2008 9:51PM
$70 is not a bad price for a Timbuk2 bag; and if you'd ever owned one you'd agree that the price isn't out of line and their bags are nicely constructed/designed.
Nate @ Sep 25th 2008 10:03PM
I get a nice industry deal on Timbuk2 bags, and I swear by them. I bought one about 6 years ago, and not a single tear wth daily use. They are WELL worth that and more.
Author X @ Sep 25th 2008 9:57PM
Actually, if you look at the company's site, their limited edition messenger bags can go for more than $100.
The problem is... I don't think that gamers intersect much with the "expensive designer messenger bag" crowd.
AoE @ Sep 25th 2008 10:00PM
@Author X,
Depends on where you are, here in LA they certainly do. I'm heavily debating the preorder right now...
juju187 @ Sep 25th 2008 10:00PM
This is when you can say Limited edition are going to far, first time "Hyped" ip's no thanks. $130 for a game with no established fan base who is there market?
Lone Starr @ Sep 25th 2008 10:07PM
^
You could say that (unfairly) about a lot of untested IP's that have had special editions (i.e. Gears of War). But $130 does seem a lot steep.
Kevlar @ Sep 26th 2008 12:25AM
Me too. I tote my laptop around in a timbuk2 pack, that cost me $120. Out of the three laptop bags I've owned in the past 2 years, this is the ONLY one that has a) lasted more than a year, and b) had a place for every toy, accessory, or widget that accompanies my laptop, as well as textbooks, cell phone, iPod, cables, papers, dongles, pencils and a bottle of water.
The bag is extremely sturdy, nicely built, waterproof, laptop-padded, and well-designed.
I have also had a positive experience when dealing with their customer service over a shipping mix-up.
IMO, it has been well worth the price.
Nutchos @ Sep 26th 2008 12:28AM
The color's all wrong for my tastes but if you're even remotely interested... I'm sure there will be plenty in the bargain bin a month or two following release.
So many old limited editions stacked up in my EB.
eldee @ Sep 26th 2008 12:28AM
it's a timbuk2 bag, it's worth every penny. I've had the one I'm using now for about 6 years (way before they started getting popular). They will last forever.
Dadidito @ Sep 26th 2008 9:33AM
I have been buying Timbuktu bags for over 15 years. They are the some of the best bags out there. My recent laptop Timbuktu bag cost well over 150. Quality and reasonable prices.
Do I want it with a videogame. Resounding NO!.
Steven M @ Sep 25th 2008 9:43PM
wow first dead space and now mirrors edge??? EA is really playing cash whore this week...
Phillip @ Sep 25th 2008 11:51PM
This week? I think Madden would object to that. For the last 10 years or so.
Steven M @ Sep 26th 2008 12:15PM
no but the 130 and 150 dollar editions, i dont think madden has had any that much
DangerMouse @ Sep 25th 2008 10:02PM
Wow. Maybe it's just me, but i haven't seen enough of this game yet to even come up with a decent opinion yet. Every trailer seems to show the same footage, or if it is different, i couldn't tell. They're just generating hype and buzz with a SE for 130 dollars. I can understand an established franchise pulling something like , but not something brand new. It could end up being a H4.5e and you're stuck with a goofy ass video game bag.
AoE @ Sep 25th 2008 10:04PM
You say that like existing franchises are somehow impervious to bad sequels....
DICE is an established developer who's proven they understand first-person better than most devs... I'm not saying it's going to assure a good game or anything. But if you look at their history, chances are pretty good it'll be a decent game.
jdkay20 @ Sep 25th 2008 10:07PM
ok who told ea about limited editions?
theturtle363 @ Sep 25th 2008 10:14PM
Once GoW 2 included a chainsaw, a bag just doesnt cut it for
AoE @ Sep 25th 2008 10:24PM
Timbuk2 Messenger Bag > Toy chainsaw any day of the week.
theturtle363 @ Sep 25th 2008 11:21PM
it's only a toy if you're lazy
Antagonist @ Sep 26th 2008 10:26AM
The only way that it's not a toy is if you're delusional.
neko to kuruma @ Sep 25th 2008 10:18PM
I think I'd rather have the FREE bag that's actually in the game, thanks.
stray_dog_strut @ Sep 25th 2008 10:19PM
FUCK YOU, EA!
Duke @ Sep 26th 2008 11:08AM
Why so hostile about them giving an optional version of the game?
I for one don't care for the bag or the high price to get it, but I sure don't see a reason to be pissed at them for selling it.
Mr Khan @ Sep 25th 2008 10:39PM
EA figures that now that they're making quality games, they can charge a premium for 'em :P
Levi @ Sep 25th 2008 10:42PM
And for just $2 more, Protoman comes with the bag...
Negativecool @ Sep 25th 2008 10:45PM
Who the hell are they marketing to? Who buys this stuff? Seriously, I have no idea and I would like to because apparently there is a large enough demographic out there that they decided this would be a profitable move.
vgxtremist @ Sep 25th 2008 11:03PM
As cool as this is, I don't think I could use it let alone open the bag in public; it strikes me weird in some sense.
wako @ Sep 25th 2008 11:16PM
DAMN YOU PETER MOORE! I THOUGHT YOU WOULD CHANGE EA FOR THE BETTER
Neil @ Sep 25th 2008 11:42PM
LOL...He's only in control of EA Sports. :P
t3kni9e @ Sep 26th 2008 1:01AM
This game is going to suck either way. It has the possiblity of being "decent" but definitely not a great game with all this hype.
Snarkstar @ Sep 26th 2008 8:05AM
Don't be fooled! This is all a ruse for people to actually buy the game instead of renting what's going to be an 8 hour game with limited replay value.
aanidaani @ Sep 25th 2008 11:32PM
Timbuk2 bags are great and this is actually a pretty good price for one, considering you get the game with it.
NeoK-182 @ Sep 25th 2008 11:55PM
ehhh i think i'll take my FREE bag from gamestop ugly color and all.
lantus @ Sep 26th 2008 9:42AM
1. No PS3 bundle?
2. Why the hell is that so expensive?
kingoscar @ Sep 28th 2008 4:56PM
The PS3 version is mentioned on the linked page. Moron.
Turkish Superman @ Sep 26th 2008 12:55AM
Is there enough room in there to hide your dignity?
Antagonist @ Sep 26th 2008 10:27AM
What dignity?
Wiinterfang @ Sep 26th 2008 1:57AM
What the fuck?
Bryan S. @ Sep 26th 2008 11:37AM
*shrug*
looks fucking ugly to me.
Mischa @ Sep 26th 2008 4:14AM
Does EA grasp anyone else as being awfully presumptuous lately? Granted, both dead space and mirror's edge look really awesome, but all of this extra stuff coming out before I've even played either of these games is a little much to me. It makes me like these products less, not more.
All I'm saying is both of these games had better be amazing.
Mischa @ Sep 26th 2008 4:16AM
Sorry, first sentence is a wee bit clunky...
SlimPickinz @ Sep 26th 2008 9:21AM
@ Mischa
You know everyone is talking about the bags value, which makes sense in relation to the post but, what you have brought up is what i have been thinking this whole time as i troll through the comments.
Whether its EA or another company, this is a bold strategy.
Dan @ Sep 26th 2008 5:59AM
nice bag, untill you open it...jesus that's ugly.
phobic99 @ Sep 26th 2008 8:25AM
Agreed. I like the bag but I'd rather not have to explain who the random girl is every time I open it.
Then there's the fact you have to pay $130 to get said bag.
Pass.
klitorisaurus @ Sep 26th 2008 7:29AM
You'd think that if they're gonna try and charge $130 for a video game they'd at least have the brains to offer it to those of us who paid $600 for our machine.
j.howlett @ Sep 26th 2008 8:49AM
i think they're going for the legendary cat helmet crowd.
