The folks at Electronic Arts have high hopes for Dead Space and are going all out with an ULTRA LIMITED EDITION (their capitalization, not ours) for the Xbox 360, which is being sold directly through EA's online store for $150. The special package includes:

let me ask a question here - are any of those things made of platinum? No? I'll stick with the regular edition then.

I'll second that. This game just doesn't offer anything that interests me.

The only particulars about this that catch my interest (aside from the game itself) are the art book, the animated film, and the graphic novel. The film is going to be up for individual sale, and neither book is worth the price of admission here. Does anybody know if the graphic novel will be available for individual purchase (aside from the inevitable ebay auctions)?

Some of the stuff in there is cool, but for almost 3-times the cost of the game? That's ok, think I can live without it.
Now if they made a Super Duper Special Ultra (combo!) Limited Edition we'll talk.

Okay, to what extent is EM employing DRM with this title? Hopefully they learned their lesson with Spore and don't do anything foolish.
*shakes first at EA*
Still gonna buy the game, but their DRM model will determine how much fist shaking will take place at the cash register.

Attaboy! Express your rage to the clerk. Somebody needs to be held accountable, and by God it should be the damn register jockey!

If the super limited packaging is a 1/16 scale model of the Ishimura, I might be interested. Otherwise, there's no way I'm paying this much for those extras.

I'm already about to drop $500 for games in the month of October, including Dead Space. There's not a snowball's chance in Hell I would touch this. I can't even justify the $140 Lancer rifle edition of Gears. These special-limited-collections editions are just getting silly.

Blizzard's CEs arguably have as much bonus stuff crammed in and for nearly half the price.
Really, EA...

How about I give you $70 for a limited edition with a making of DVD and a little art book thrown in?

It does not bother me that they have put together a premium LE. It seems to be relatively packed with content for the price.
2 things do irk me:
1. The LE is the only way to get "Downfall," which is apparently a PREQUEL to the game, by the game's release date. Downfall is only otherwise available on October 28, 2 weeks after the game's release.
2. Downfall is also available on Blu-Ray, which would make a PS3 LE with the game and the Blu-Ray an obvious offering.

Am I the only one that doesnt think concept art is worth paying extra for? its almost three times the normal price for some art, a cartoon, and "special packaging...The worst part is that there are people that will get it.

You know, there was a time when these packages made sense... that time when an SP edition came out for a game that everyone wanted it ... indeed I'm feeling DSpace but the hype around has almost reached MG proportions at this point and now this ... GTFOH.

OH!!
Wait!!
I had something snarky to say but then I just realized.
WARREN ELLIS WORKED ON THE STORY FOR THIS GAME.
So...
did he do the Graphic Novel too?
You bastards better have let him do the graphic novel.

Just wait, this'll be a Robotech Limited Edition, that came with a shirt, poster cards, dog tags, soundtrack and motion / flip cards in a big shinny box and will be sitting in GameStops for months. Halo Helmets ring a bell anyone?
FYI I have both.

I'm so sick of these limited editions/exclusive character for one console/and horse armor. They are for the most part a rip off and just unnecessary. A making of dvd and the rest of the crap DO NOT WARRANT $150 FUCKING DOLLARS.

Easy to criticize what you can't afford, eh? Collectors spend the money on these editions because they want stuff like this and they shouldn't be left out or criticized because you guys wouldn't put up the money for such a thing. $60+ for the game, $30 for the DVD animated movie and a full graphic novel maybe $20+. In the end that's already about 120 separate. plus the extra stuff like the 90+ page artbook, lithograph art and Making of type DVD for the extra $30. It's not that far off left field.

I bought it October 13th and it still hasn't come (it is October 26th now).
Anyways if you all are wondering why someone would be so stupid as to buy it, well it is because: first of all, it is a good investment (only 1000 made and ALREADY selling for 130% more than what it was originally worth MINIMUM); and secondly, I couldn't restrain myself from buying it, I just had to.
