Attorney, er, former anti-games attorney Jack Thompson has apparently been disbarred by the state of Florida. It's been a long time coming, but the Court has finally decided that Jack Thompson should "be permanently disbarred without leave to apply for readmission to The Florida Bar."
Mark Methenitis, an attorney who pens Joystiq's Law of the Game, writes us, "While I know a lot of people in the industry truly dislike Jack, I hope people show a bit of respect for a man who has just lost his livelihood. I also hope people realize that this doesn't mean we've heard the last from Jack. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start his own nonprofit group to continue to advance his viewpoint."
We spoke with a representative for The Florida Bar and asked if the association had any further comment. She responded, "We feel the documents speak for themselves."
Check out all the relevant court documents in the gallery below. (View in "High Res" if you don't want to squint.)

I honestly appreciate Mr. Methenitis' position and his opinion regarding Thompson, but to be blunt, this is not a man that deserves any sort of pity or respect.
Yeah the man lost his livelihood. Too bad he decided to make a career out of trying to destroy other peoples' livelihoods. Turnabout is, as they say, fair play.
This punishment against that fraudulent activist has been a long time coming and is richly deserved. Do not feel sorry for this man. He is not worthy of your pity.

So when a Scam artest gets caught and fined $700 000 Im suppose to feel bad for him that hes lost his livly hood and cant support his family? Sorry but no. Same here. If a legitimate laywer lost his job then perhaps so, but this is a scumbag who made money by tricking people and putting on false blame. Im not gonna feel sorry for him because he lost his lively hood.
And really seriously, he was a rich famous lawyer, I doubt his job means anything to him in terms of finacial situations. Im sure hes got enough moeny to retire happily.

My thoughts exactly when I first saw that headline. I'm still laughing so hard.

I would laugh, but there is something just disturbing about watching a man slowly decline into madness and lose everything on the way down.

When I was reading the Court's decision I started thinking the same thing. To see another attorney go off the deep end like this, and then to be disbarred with so little compassion is sad.
Though, he is one of the worst examples of what people in our field can do if they choose to abuse the system. His disbarment appears well deserved at this point and the fact he couldn't follow simple rules of the Court to stand up for himself doesn't win any fans within the legal community.
