We at Joystiq would love to be excited about the new campaign, which takes you inside the brain of 360 players, but as the last remaining members of the Herman's Head International Fan Club, we feel like we should be stand-offish, if only on principle.
Microsoft in biggest Xbox 360 media assault yet

Presumably hoping to build on that price cut momentum, Microsoft has launched into its biggest 360 ad attack ever, according to Edge Online. The "Live Your Moment" campaign will extend to billboards, print, TV and every medium in between. In fact, in a little thing we in the biz like to call "media synergy," you can see the first TV ad online right after the break. Welcome to the future.

Or you know digdug.. the commercials could just well.. not be good? They should try to advertise to the world, not a single select group.
When I see a baby doll crying black ooze from his tearducts.. it does not make me want to buy a PS3.. instead, it makes me want to go watch something happy so the nightmares stop.

They really are competing with Sony's ads for worst commercials ever.
So let's see...you have a freaky ad that's supposed to appeal to 'casuals', you're showing a girl playing a game, but you can barely make out what the game is, and the ONLY thing to suggest that she's playing a game is the toy guitar STRAP over her shoulder.
Who the hell are they paying to make such terrible ads?!

Wow, someone is really defending Cowboy Jed's Mario Kart Emporium. Wierd...
That commercial is horrid. IMO of course.

Nintendo's goofy Cowboy Jed commercials are about 1,000 TIMES BETTER, simply based on the fact that they're showing actual gameplay footage.
The Wii Would Like To Play commercials are effective because they beat you over the head with the message.
The MS one, like the Cowboy Jed one, grabs your attention just because it's kind of weird...but unlike the Mario Kart one, it tells you NOTHING about what it's selling you. Just like those awful PS3 commercials.

I have never heard of that Cowboy Jed thing, and I wish I never have. That's just terrible.
But I'm not a fan of this new 360 commercial either. The first time I saw it, I was just confused. Now I get it, but I don't get it. Does that make sense? The girl's face is creepy.

I have noticed a lot of game commercials lately ending in the xbox 360 screen and saying "now starting at $199"
this rock band commercial included.

Whats going on with Micro today, are they on a bad ad rampage, Bungies halo expansion trailer told me jack all except the fact meteoroids are looking more high tech these days, and now this? What next? An ad of Marcus Fenix in his bath tub with a rubber ducky squeezing it and shouting "Today, I will kill those mutha fooking Locustsess"?

i'm sensing a bit of PS3 obsession from you AoE, or did you completely forget that there's a whole other system on the market, one which Microsoft was specifically targeting with it's 360 price cut? maybe SoulBlade is a Wii fanboy? maybe he's just an unbiased gamer with an opinion?

So, when she saw the new price she thought of herself playing together with her friends? That was a good ad.

After working in a consumer ad company for a while, I'd like to give this input:
A LOT of ad writers are out to create ads that will win art awards each year, and put this ahead of the actual message.
