CoD: World At War Collector's Edition pins the tail on you
You might need to fill that flask, er, "canteen" with more than just Kool-Aid if you plan to make it through the first few weeks of Call of Duty 5 Call of Duty: World At War boot camp. You see, you bought the "Limited Collector's Edition," which includes, in addition to a storage tin (guaranteed to fit other Treyarch games!) and the aforementioned sipping container, the infamous "Day One Advantage." As if spotting the guy with the ridiculously over-powered machine gun won't be easy enough, you'll also be pinned with a "uniquely colored clan tag" identifying your "VIP-status" in online multiplayer. In other words: Everybody kill that guy! Yeah, you.

"UPDGRAGE"
...Ahh, Treyarch quality there.
theturtle363 @ Sep 26th 2008 2:14PM
they mean Upped rage, like how angry you will be if you spent 70 dollars and the game sucks
SlimPickinz @ Sep 26th 2008 2:33PM
LOL!
But im not too sure about Treyarch as a whole anyway, CoD3 IMO was pure CoD fanboy material. The multiplayer was shoddy and inaccurate and as for the game...CoD2 it was not...(stating the obvious).
theturtle363 @ Sep 26th 2008 3:40PM
i agree about CoD 3, however, like most times, it's failings were due to Activision rushing it out the door to make CoD a yearly thing for teh moniez. They've had moe than twice the time to work on this on, so i think it could really be great
Arturo @ Sep 26th 2008 2:08PM
I kinda want the canteen
Marty @ Sep 26th 2008 2:29PM
Me too - it'd be an excellent replacement for my vodka flask.
theturtle363 @ Sep 26th 2008 2:12PM
too bad it doesnt come with a real flamethrower
McWeen @ Sep 26th 2008 2:13PM
It is interesting to see all the different strategies companies are using to get gamers attention day 1 during the crowded holiday rush.
Fenix @ Sep 26th 2008 2:14PM
How much?
Duke @ Sep 26th 2008 3:48PM
Here is the only info I saw:
The PC version of the Limited Collector's edition will run gamers $69.99, and its Xbox 360 counterpart will retail for $79.99. Players can get their hands on Call of Duty: World at War and its Limited Collector's edition come November 11 in the US, and November 12 in Australia.

Sup with the PSTriple never getting the LE and CE edition love? lol!
Duke @ Sep 26th 2008 4:06PM
I expect to grab this for the 360 myself. You?
xFenixKnightx (Mr ESC Resurrection Force) @ Sep 26th 2008 4:44PM
Yeah its probably a gimme for me as well. I myself (unlike most) still love WWII shooters.
The Fuzz 53 @ Sep 26th 2008 2:15PM
I'm really just not that excited to go back to WWII, or the Deuce as I like to call it. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Dirty @ Sep 26th 2008 2:20PM
I don't think the pacific campaign has been explored enough, but the "deuce" is getting old. I would prefer a more solid Vietnam outing. I just like the history and not the made up plot lines a little better.
Vietnam might be hard to feel epic.
Puffles @ Sep 26th 2008 2:26PM
I've actually never played a WWII game that took place in the Pacific, with you fighting the Japanese, so this actually seems somewhat new to me.
Mr Khan @ Sep 26th 2008 2:25PM
WWII seems like its been picked clean, but thats only because devs keep sweeping over the same damn 11 months: Normandy to the Elbe, June 44 to May 45
The better ones have tackled the Eastern front and the Pacific, but we really need to see a comprehensive game dealing with all of it.
juju187 @ Sep 26th 2008 3:36PM
battlefield 1942?

@ Dirty
As long as these games are developed by and targeted at Americans, I doubt it.Making an US-targeted game about a war in which they've lost in a very humiliating way isn't a smart business move.
E.J. @ Sep 27th 2008 10:44AM
@Jakka
Call of Duty 4 is still doing pretty well. Maybe it's cuz we haven't lost the war. The "losing" is ongoing.
Obie @ Sep 26th 2008 2:17PM
Too busy playing Gears 2 when this one comes out.
Fenix @ Sep 26th 2008 2:20PM
Yeah, doesn't this come out like the very next week?
Damnit! I still want it! >:(
Curse you XP, prestige, perks, and leveling up, CURSE YOUUUUUUU!!!!!!11!!1ONE!!!

That's no Canteen, that's a flask... sweet.
Looks like the muliplayer is going to follow in COD4's big ol footsteps, which is also.....sweet.
SlimPickinz @ Sep 26th 2008 2:37PM
Its a flask you say!!??
Coulda fooled me! Looks more like a gourd withe a +2 to drunk.
Daniel @ Sep 26th 2008 2:18PM
In Soviet Russia, Donkey pins tail on you?
TheOverlord#2 @ Sep 26th 2008 3:05PM
In Soviet Russia, a canteen drinks you!

In Soviet Russian this joke gets hanged and shot by YOU!
zlickrick @ Sep 26th 2008 2:23PM
Between Gears 2 and WOTLK, this game will sadly get the boot from my November rotation.
tmmoore_nc @ Sep 26th 2008 2:32PM
So PS3 owners are getting screwed again? Or does this mean the PS3 version will be more competitive due to no "Week 1 Advantage".
This is pretty shameless. Not only do you get a better gun, but a week of double EXP. That's crazy.
SlimPickinz @ Sep 26th 2008 2:42PM
*eyes bulge with confusion*
Umm, not like you can play an XBL user anyway so...
What are you saying again? i smell toast...
Or is it bacon?
Ha! Nevermind, its raw fish from the bakery!
Silly me...
Double J @ Sep 26th 2008 3:01PM
Holy hell! It comes with an instruction manual!!!
Battledrill @ Sep 26th 2008 3:20PM
I have a feeling everyone is going to be gunning for GOW2S status with these special editions, and that can only be a good thing.
juju187 @ Sep 26th 2008 3:38PM
micheal phelps is gonna wreak your non medal winning asses
wiredknight @ Sep 26th 2008 3:50PM
I like how they spread out the game box, disc, and manual, and separated the tin and the dust cover to make it look more impressive.
SlickD @ Sep 26th 2008 7:49PM
If there is anything I learn over the years, it's the useless of these bonus item. I always buy them and then leave them on the shelf. Think I should stop repeating the same mistake and save myself some money for other games.
navstar @ Sep 26th 2008 11:27PM
I guess I've outgrown limited editions. Tons of worthless crap that just fill up my house. It's hardly limited or valuable as a collectible when they print hundreds of thousands of copies. That's hardly "limited".
A year later, what am I supposed to do with my Master Chief helmet beside dust it weekly? Do I really need a shine to each franchise? "Over here in the Call of Duty wing, you'll see my awxsome limited edition canteen. And in the Rapture Study, please admire my Big Daddy figuring." enough brick-a-brack!
umm....hello??? @ Sep 27th 2008 12:48AM
waddya mean? it's almost Halloween--time to suit up your kitten in that Master Chief outfit!!!!!
