PSN Cards expand to Walmart, Best Buy, Sam's Club and Barnes & Noble

It took some time, but it looks like PLAYSTATION Network cards are ready to hit mass distribution. In October, these prepaid gift cards for use on the PLAYSTATION Store will be available at Walmart, Best Buy, select Sam's Club outlets. In November, they will also be available at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores locations, just in time for midterms and finals.

"The PLAYSTATION Network Cards are an easy way for PSP and PS3 fans to obtain great games, movies, TV shows and other entertainment through PLAYSTATION Network and we are pleased to offer them at major retailers nationwide," said Eric Lempel, director, PLAYSTATION®Network Operations, SCEA. "With the holiday season right around the corner, these cards are an ideal gift option for friends and family, whether they are movie aficionados, dedicated gamers or something in between."

if you've got to ask, it's probably no.

Good thing. Spent nearly 30 minutes trying to buy one at a Blockbuster. The register couldn't scan it or sell it. The person behind the counter spent the whole time talking to managers and other stores trying to figure out how to sell it to me.

My financial institution bestowed a magical plastic form of debiting upon me. The power it possesses allows me to bypass formalities such as incremental payment cards. mwahahahahaha

Those should be a big hit. I never understood why they were vaporware for so long.

for one, i saw one at a super america gas station about 4 months ago, and two, WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG?! sometimes i think sony is run by HAL 9000 who is just trying to screw sony up or something. it should not have taken 2 years to get PSN cards to big retailers.

i cant wait! no store in my city has them (i checked em all!!!) hopefully these new ones will carry them in my area. i hope i hope !! el paso better get these cards

why the hell did sony make us wait 2 years to release a "card" to let us no have to use our credit card? seriously. how hard could it be to release this thing?

because it takes 2 years to make plastic cards with redemption codes. :P

Not that I'm disagreeing completely, but the delay seems to be caused by the various computer systems used by the retailers rather than by Sony physically producing/distributing the cards.

Does anyone know where if and where I can buy these cards online for a reasonable price ? Aren't available in europe yet -.-

i doubt that they will be coming to canada during that time. i find it funny that they sell it in other places in america like meijer, blockbuster, 7-eleven, rite-aid, military air bases whatever they are called, and gas stations but not the sony store. Pretty much everyone who has a ps3 in canada wants this but noooooo, you want us to wait longer. This is the only thing that pisses me off about sony.

I hope there is a way at some stage to buy these Online. If anyone finds somewhere please let us know.

I really want these in the UK, it would make it so much easier for me to get things like Wipeout, especially as my debit card has expired and I haven't yet been sent a new one.

Does anybody know whether these cards could be used to purchase items from European PSN stores being in the US. I would love to be able to use these to, for example purchase Singstar songs (Judas Priest - Breaking the Law !!!) that are not available in the US

Why the heck don't they release these magnificent cards in Europe too and actually worldwide?? I mean, they have been available in America in little gas station's for ages. Sigh. This would open the gates of PSN-goodies for many and many other people who may not have a credit card available.

Im looking forward to getting a $50 dollar PSN card so i can get Burnout Paridise an the Warhawk booster pack.... but i have no money!
