Steam's 50% off weekend on Rockstar titles, many games only $5
Valve's Steam service has a seriously sweet 50% off sale this weekend on its Rockstar games catalog. Both Max Payne titles are only $5 apiece ($7.49 for the set). Also, Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City are $5, while San Andreas is only $10.
Steam is also offering its whole Rockstar collection (10 games in all) for $30. Not every game in there is a classic (lookin' at you, Manhunt), but the price is certainly right for all the hours worth of gameplay in the package.

Jakka(A tribute to whose who fought and failed during the Epic Flamewar of L.A. Noir) @ Sep 27th 2008 6:48AM
...or you could play Strangehold.
Ihavepants @ Sep 27th 2008 9:06AM
Wtf, Stranglehold is a terrible game, it's interesting for about the first level. No, just no.
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrection force) @ Sep 27th 2008 10:37AM
Stranglehold isn't (that) cheap or good by comparison to the awesomeness that is Max Payne.
mr mobius @ Sep 26th 2008 8:15PM
If I was a PC gamer it'd be a great offer as I've never owned any Rockstar game.
Fox318 @ Sep 26th 2008 10:00PM
Why don't you start now?
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrection force) @ Sep 26th 2008 8:22PM
WHAT!
They're $6.99 each in Europe!
Robbing bastards :P
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrection force) @ Sep 26th 2008 8:22PM
I should note both Max Payne games are in my opinion among the greatest ever made, and for the price in the bundle they're well worth it.
Ihavepants @ Sep 26th 2008 8:27PM
Hmm I never played the original Max, his lemon-face scared me.
Ihavepants @ Sep 26th 2008 10:25PM
Goddamnit it's not available in Australia. If Steam didn't have these stupid fucking limitations I would have had Witcher Enhanced a week ago :
mismajor99 @ Sep 27th 2008 1:53AM
trust me, it's not STEAM, they would love to sell you the game, it's the Publishers that put their games on STEAM that get to dictate pricing and availability.
Ihavepants @ Sep 27th 2008 9:08AM
I know that it's the Publishers choice, but it's still Steam. I'm buying and playing the games off that platform 'twas I meant.
Citizensnips @ Sep 26th 2008 8:37PM
you can buy both max paynes for 2 dollars used at gamestop on the ps2.
kojo87 @ Sep 26th 2008 8:46PM
you can say that about any game that old. and i don't have a PS2
Ihavepants @ Sep 26th 2008 9:06PM
Yeh...but these versions are BETTAR and not second hand.
zkey14 @ Sep 26th 2008 9:14PM
No thanks, I'd rather play the 60 fps, moddable version.
Ken Seang @ Sep 26th 2008 9:15PM
Why would you buy it on ps2 and go to gamestop...?
Save gas, better controls, instant download, and mods = pc version ftw!
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrection force) @ Sep 27th 2008 7:36AM
Plus the PC version is in HD..
j.howlett @ Sep 26th 2008 8:40PM
i own most of those except wild metal and midnight club. never heard of wild metal till now.
wickedpheonix @ Sep 27th 2008 11:47AM

j.howlett @ Sep 27th 2008 12:00PM
i know this, man
helluvagood @ Sep 26th 2008 9:08PM
pf get them for free seriously
moot @ Sep 26th 2008 9:26PM
Too bad. My computer is too old. I need a new one.
Lorben @ Sep 26th 2008 9:32PM
Too old for Max Payne? Seriously? It only needs a 450Mhz processor and 96MB of ram
MOT @ Sep 27th 2008 2:25AM
Ignore him, Lorbon. Idiots like him are a dime a dozen, obeying like sheep when they hear that PC gaming is too demanding. If he did his own research he would see that even an 8 year old PC could comfortably run the game.
mitsu @ Sep 26th 2008 10:23PM
This deal doesn't look like it's available in australia - I'm only getting the 7 trailers coming up when searching..
Ihavepants @ Sep 26th 2008 10:46PM
It isn't. Steam needs moar Aussie servers, we're missing out on quite a few games.
Haggard (Mr.ESC resurrection force) @ Sep 27th 2008 10:40AM
It's not servers, it's publishers. They see Steam as a method of making a quick buck off games they already own and have surpassed retail profit.
I don't know the specifics but they'd probably have to pay a fair bit to get the games available for Australia (bureaucracy, setting up taxes etc) and if it's not going to be a huge seller, or make a large profit per unit sold, they probably don't see it as worth it.
For instance, Ubisoft's entire catalogue (dozens of games) is available in the USA but not EU.
Ihavepants @ Sep 27th 2008 10:44AM
Yeh you know what, they'd have to pay to host their game data on *GASP* servers. Servers that are dedicated to Steam.
I'm starting to get annoyed by how people seem to look at a comment from the tiniest angle possible and go off that.
Ihavepants @ Sep 27th 2008 10:45AM
And most of Ubisofts games aren't available here in Australia either. I really wanted to buy Beyond Good And Evil too.
infernus @ Sep 26th 2008 10:31PM
Really tempted to get that Max Payne bundle for $7.50, simply because Max Payne is awesome.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Sep 26th 2008 10:44PM
VERY TEMPTING.
Eric @ Sep 26th 2008 11:10PM
Very tempting indeed.
Tarheel @ Sep 26th 2008 10:57PM
Shame the original GTA's aren't for sale individually (looks like they only come in the bundle). Might pick up Max Payne, tho'
j.howlett @ Sep 27th 2008 12:30AM
i thought the original gtas were free. check rockstar's website for them.
Tarheel @ Sep 27th 2008 1:14AM
You're right...Thanks for the heads up!

JoeTheBlow @ Sep 27th 2008 7:54AM
Be sure to get one of the Matrix mods.
I can't remember which one is the best, but i remember it being AWESOME.
Wall running, slow mo fights, the music from the film, all of it.
t_m @ Sep 27th 2008 9:01AM
No rockstar games AT ALL available in japan... sigh.
Also, no Beyond Good and Evil, and no Dark Messiah.
So thats loads of my money they've missed out on...
wickedpheonix @ Sep 27th 2008 11:50AM
Rockstar took my $30 and dumped me off like a cheap prostitute. Weekend deals FTW!!
Von Dozier @ Sep 27th 2008 1:31PM
I got the Max Payne bundle. Never played these games, heard alot about them.
Although I'm having a problem with sound in Max Payne 1. It only seems to play certain audio. I get no audio in cutscenes, and in-game I can hear dialogue and footsteps, but yet no bullet sounds.
Von Dozier @ Sep 27th 2008 1:37PM
Nevermind, found a patch.
