An eagle-eyed tipster noticed a new title pop up on the official Tenchu site and according to the information provided on the site it looks like the series is hitting the Arcade. Tenchu: Shadow Assault appears to be a multiplayer (up to 4 players over Live) party game, although the trailer has what appears to be co-operative sections. According to the site's listing the genre is referred to as a Trap Action title which does point to a party and coop experience ... albeit with one mode.
Interestingly enough the website for the From Software developed title lists the title will be made available on October 8 for 800MS points. While the title has been rated by the CERO, Japan's rating board for games, it has yet to pop-up on the ESRB website for release in North America. Possible Japan only release? Maybe, but we'll have to wait and see.

Just watched the video on From Software's website for this... looks there is more than one game mode. From what I could tell, it seems like a strange bomberman clone with Tenchu characters. Really strange. The video was all in Japanese so I have no idea what it was saying, but it didn't look all that fun or compelling. Many would argue that the full Tenchu games aren't really very fun or compelling either though, so I digress. I have to admit that I enjoy the Tenchu games, but I know they aren't great games...

Phawx, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking. If it's anything like Trap Gunner, BRING IT ON! Man, I wouldn't mind seeing Trap Gunner itself make it to XBLA... I mean, really, that was one extremely fun, awesome game, and would make for some great online play. -cheers for Vahn Rally!- Every time the announcer said "Lou Richie!" I swear I thought about Little Richie... and the secret charas in that game where cool, too.
