New games this week: Silent Hill Homecoming edition

So maybe this week doesn't quite provide the Horn of Plenty of Sept. 22. But it's a charming little week all the same, with a new Silent Hill game (made by dirty, clumsy gaijin hands) and the return of the Harvest Moon series with Tree of Tranquility.
If you're looking for something a bit more visceral you can get totally pumped for MK vs. DC with Mortal Kombat Kollection on the PS2. Check out the full list after the break.

As much as I love Zombie-nurse tits, Sonic Chronicles really should have been game of the week. Without being too over the top, I believe this game will not only be game of the year, but possibly game of the decade.
In 20 years time we'll be talking about that great Bioware Sonic game that redefined an entire genre, not anything else released this week. No disrespect intended to fans of Zoo Tycoon, and the like.

I'm actually cancelling my reservation for Sonic Chronicles. Too many reviews are calling it average, and I refuse to play anything less than awesome. Especially when we're talking about Bioware.

Actually the only bad review was from IGN, the game is getting 8.0 for a lot of magazine, even 9.0 on some ones, Eurogamer with it a 7 or something ( and those guys are harsh).
The game is good but it certainly isn't the Second coming as the first poster say, it should have being done by SEGA :(.

i got the European version for my flash cart on my DS.
its a fantastic RPG, but "Nigeria" is over-doing it a little. Sonic fans will be shocked (in a good way), and RPG fans will have fun with it but not amazed.
its personally one of my favorite RPGs of all time now.

Really? Its not on my radar. Dead Space, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 for me this month coming up. Still waiting for PURE from GF and I just got an email that SW: TFU was mailed to me so I'll be playing those till Dead Space releases.
Of course my Gears activity has ramped up as well. Have to get the rust out and stay frosty for Gears 2 :) Only 5 more weeks!!!1!

I will give you my thoughts when I grab it. Not sure if I will get it this week though. My fiance got me Force Unleashed yesterday and I also rented Merc 2 (which is pretty fun). I think I'm gonna have little game time too since we have our wedding coming in 2 weeks.

I already resolved to hold off on Sonic Chronicles and request it as a Christmas present, since my schedules a bit too crowded for an RPG right now. Wario Land currently, once i get Wii back online i'll get Bomberman and Megaman, hoping on that Disaster date, and Sonic Unleashed in November.

I think this is a rent only week for me. While Silent Hill: The Al Pacino Cover edition looks alright, SH4: The Room still leaves a bad feeling about where this series could be going.

SH4 was so underrated. The room was awesome. Yes, Silent Hill itself was a bit lame but the room more than made up for it in my mind.
The new one really has nothing going for it. Made in the USA by a crappy team working at a horrible company, the team saw total turnover like four times, every preview says it's lame and buggy.

6 is by no means a bad score. It's just decent. Now AitD was getting 4's so yeah, that was kinda bad. But even that is at least playable and they found something noteworthy there.
Sheesh modern gamers are so high maintenance :P

Okay.. actually, they're part of it. They gave birth to the wonky review system most sites use.
1 = 0
2 = 0
3 = 0
4 = 2
5 = 2
6 = 4
7 = 5
8 = 7
9 = 8
10 = 10
How current reviews are scaled. Scaled because, if anything, the reader base is too stupid to pay attention to anything below an 8. So if a game worthy of a 6 or 7 comes out, but is still pretty darn good, it can't be given a 6 or 7, else people are just going to write it off.

The review by OXM basically gave SH:Homecoming a low score because the story gets off to a slow start and there are parts of the game where you feel like you are wandering around looking for stuff...
Umm. This sounds like alot of survival horror games.
I'm getting it regardless, but I'm waiting to see if OXM scored it at the lower end of what most other reviews will give it.

It's Sept 30. Do you know where you Silent Hill is? Apparently not in Austin, TX, because none of the stores here will have it until tomorrow, it seems. I've never not seen a major release in stores ON its release date.
