A handheld MMO game? Just think, you can be a total loser with no life on the go! Man, I can't wait to grind levels as I go from my bedroom to the kitchen and raid the fridge.

Sounds like someone fell victim to to the deceiving charm of MMO promises.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Generalizing a genre's players is just as ignorant as generalizing gamers as a whole.

Wow...couldn't the same exact thing be said about playing Call of Duty 4 online for hours? Couldn't that be said about any game?

Unfortunately I agree with Red Leader on this one since I've been scarred with MMOs. They are a waste of time and up to a point you realize you wasted your time playing it unless if you play with your friends of course but playing more than 3 hours is too intense with all the stupid quests and all. I perfer playing console games online since MMOs tend to never end.

Wasted 3 years on it, not planning on going back even if it comes to psp. I remember how my friend was warning me. However, MMOs arent that bad, if you know your limits your alright, just don't spend too much time on it.

If your weakminded like me, stay away from it. Dont say i didnt warn you.

handheld MMO makes no sense when most of the time, most of the 34 million PSP systems are not connected to the INTERNET, making the online reality far from true.

does anybody really have their PSP always connected to the internet?

Depends on how big or small the scale is.

I could very well see a small instanced MMO world with quests for parties up to 4 people (you're probably going to know at least 1 other person with a PSP so that you'd nag that person to death to buy the game as well).

This is where the built in wifi comes in handy. At home I am always connected as well as various vendors that offer free wifi and t-mobile hot spots. It's not like a cell phone with built in 3G connectivity but where I live almost every major retail outlet offers free wifi.

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but whenever I'm downtown, at home, at work or at school there is ALWAYS Wifi (most of the time it's not locked either), and it's pretty fast too. I play MKDS online at work a lot... so I would probably like to play this PSP MMO (of course it has to be good).

16 hour level grind on a 3-4 hour battery? Hmmm. I'm not sure about the math there.

Matt

I play my PSP at home all the time. The majority of people have wireless connectivity at their homes and it is also available at just about every retailer. The point is that there will be allot of chances to play the game. It's not like there needs to be a million people online at all times to enjoy an MMO.

Well, this would be the time to get those PSPs connected, would it not? But I do agree with this statement, it doesn't make sense when PSPs aren't really used extensively with internet. Until the majority of people get wi-fi as standard.

Haven't they already announced Phantasy Star Online for the PSP? The DS is getting "Phantasy Star Zero" so it's not outside the realm of possibility that they could make it work in an MMO fashion.

(for your definition of MMO, that is)

No, Phantasy Star Portable was offline multiplayer only... it's weird though, the DS gets the online one and the PSP just gets the local one.

The bigger story here is "SOE looking at possibility of PSP game."

I feel like I haven't seen a new release since Crisis Core.

If I could get internet connection everywhere i went, this would be great. But since I can't... bah!

I think they should put wi-fi on all public transit systems in the US. That's like the most common place I play my PSP.
