The screen shot makes it look to have potential...I guess I'll go out and find a review now.

Holy crap. That is very complete.

But bipedal tanks? Either this is a MGS rip-off, or you mean mechs.

Eh, it's not like MGS4 was the first and only to do that or even call it that. BiPedal is more of a scientific name for it. Besides, the Bipedal tank in MGS4 is basically a mech, just a different name for it.

But this game really does look good, especially for a Arcade game.

I had forgot about this one. There was a fair amount of praise for it a while back and then nothing. I'm looking forward to hearing how good it is or is not now that its finished.

I also remember seeing this game a long time ago, but I thought it had a different name. They must have changed it; it was something like "Battle Bots" before... o-or something. Looks cool by any name, though. It should have come out in the summer, because all my money for the rest of the year is already earmarked for the big games this holiday and I can't even afford all of those. Sorry Battle Bots--I mean, War World.

Drew - by bipedal they mean the "tanks" walk on two legs/poles/apendages. So yeah, they are mechs. Anyhow this game looks pretty from that screen and for 800 points doesnt seem like a bad buy.

There is a reply button, my friend. I am aware of what bipedal means. And to me, Kojima (and Granin) shall forever be associated with the term "bipedal tanks." Furthermore, Transformers = mechs. The robot pictured is clearly Transformery, not Metal Geary. I just realized that all robots I know of are bipedals. Either this is a good point, or I have drastically undermined myself....

Australians, and someone on staff used to work for Rare, back in the N64 days.

Interesting.

And MGS stole it from Armored Trooper: VOTOMS. If you're a fan of mecha and haven't seen the series, you need to now.

If you're going to get argumentative over who stole what, the concept of a mech has been around for a long time, nearly a century. Armored Trooper: VOTOMS, MechWarrior, BattleTech, Robotech and certainly as hell not Metal Gear Solid didn't come up with the idea.

Starship Troopers, not the shitty movie, was written in 1959 for instance. Cap Troopers are mechs.

Even earlier in 1937, a writer by the name of E.E. Smith pretty much came up with the idea of a mechanical humanoid battle suit in his Lensman series.

Video games have a good deal of creativity, but not in the actual storyline department. They're all built on a long history of the written word, well before the concept of the video game formulated in a nuclear physicist's head.

I always thought Cap Troopers used battle suites, not mechs.

I agree with your point though

I'm with orchid, there's a difference between power armor and mecha. Otherwise, you're on target.

Saying your game has normal, diffuse, and specular texture maps pretty much goes without saying for any 3D game coming out this year. But I do have to admit this looks mighty pretty for an XBLA game.

Wow.

I did some looking around for information on the game and from what I've seen and read about it....cool.

To tell the truth I've never really seen XBLA as having a game like this. Yes you see original games, but nothing like this so far.

I guess it's a good thing the XBLA size restrictions were lifted because this looks like it could be taking advantage of it.

I'll buy it fa sho.

Can't be worse than most of the trash on XBL. Pirates vs Ninja dodgeball comes to mind. Other than the Live summer event the arcade games have sucked big time. Unless there are games that I am missing.

It just seems like the PSN releases are so much better.

To me, lately PSN titles have been crap (The Last Guy, Ratchet & Clank, etc.).. only one I've really enjoyed was Wipeout HD, and even then.. racing games are racing games, not too much my cup of tea.

Duke Nukem 3D freaking owns by the way. That was released a few days ago ;)

Thats one I missed - Duke Nukem 3D ... Glad to hear it is good. I will have to pick it up

Last Guy is Awesome (to me) as well as Siren, Ratchet And Clank, Wipeout HD, PJ Eden, BC:Rearmed (MP), Warhawk expansions, PJ Monsters, Everyday Shooter, Stardust HD, Pain updates, HV Bowling, Elefunk, SOCOM:Confrontation coming to PSN, echnochrome, GEON, Jeopardy, Burnout Paradise, Buzz add on packs, 1942 Joint strike, Blast factor, Cash Guns Chaos, Fatal Inertia, Flow, Go Sports Skydiving,Gripshift, High Stakes Poker and GT:Prologue just to name the PSN games I own.

It's not about 360 bashing. Honestly, it's damn near impossible for me to even figure out what's what on the 360 menu setup. If you want to say that I am just 360 bashing here then you need to look in the mirror because all you do is go around and apologize foe Microsoft.

Apologize? XD Because I supported the Fable 2 argument? ok..

MS freaking sucks period.. The 360, does not.

The reason why I thought The Last Guy wasn't that great was because it was like what? $15 for flash game material. =/

Then R&C had no replayability.. game should have been priced around $8 or so instead of $15..

Wipeout HD is pretty sweet.

No thanks on the Jeopardy.

To me, Pixel Junk Monsters > Pixel Junk Eden

Warhawk is pretty sweet

Burnout Paradise etc. is almost like the Originals on the XBLM.

Games that I really like on XBL:

Aces of The Galaxy
Aegis Wing
Bionic Commando: Rearmed
Boom Boom Rocket
Braid
Castle Crashers
Contra
Destroy All Humans
Duke Nukem 3D
DOOM
Fable
Fable II: Pub Games
Galaga
Galaga: Legions
Geometry Wars
Geometry Wars 2
Hexic HD
Marathon: Durandal
N+
Prince of Persia
Roboblitz
Schizoid
Sonic The Hedgehog
Space Giraffe

and there's more.. and yeah, I'm really looking forward to the new dashboard.

I'm also waiting on a few XBL titles like the original Banjo-Kazooie for the XBLA.

Thanks for the list (I mean it!) because it is honestly very hard for me to figure out what's on XBLA. I can't wait for the redesign because that store front is atrocious IMO.

I guess my problem has been a growing distaste for the 360 brand over the last year or so. I won't even mention how many console failures I have had and the horrible experience with MS support. That distain based on my own experience really makes me look at the console in a more negative light than others who haven't had the same experiences. Hopefully Gears Of War 2 rekindles my love for the 360, a console that i waited in the cold for over 8 hours on the night of release. If that game comes and goes I might end up selling my 360 because I just feel there is not much there to enjoy on the console. I hate to say it and sound like a scorned ex-girlfriend but I don't even enjoy playing games on it anymore.

About The Last Guy ...

Arcade or PSN games aren't really about graphics. They are about creativity, charm and ingenuity bundled into a value price. I feel that "The Last Guy" has more creativity in the first level than allot of big time releases have in the entire game. It's just a damn fun game. It's something new that has a fun and easy to play mechanic but is very challenging the further along you go into the game.

In all honesty the vast majority of downloadable games have similar graphics to a flash game. That shouldn't be a knock on the fundamentals of the actual gaming experience. The game just has so much charm and appeal combined with fun mechanics and ZOMBIES!!!!!

Geometry Wars Evolved is also a very complete title for an XBLA game. I think those sort of top down shooters work very well as downloadable titles. Super Stardust HD & Everyday Shooter are two of my most favorite games of all time.

It really seems like the consoles have a few good games every few months but that the best experiences come on the handhelds (DS & PSP) & as downloadable games.

"normal mapped diffuse and specular lighting,"

this sentence is at best very confusing but more likely they have no idea what they're talking about.

I think what they meant to say is that they use normal and specular maps....as well as diffuse which kinda goes without saying seeing as every 3d game ever released uses diffuse maps

It's funny that someone mentioned the size. IIRC, this game was being held up LONG LONG ago, because of size shrinking difficulties. Man, this looked good, but it was so long ago I also thought it got canceled.

Fun game when I played it on the PC three years ago.

Pretty high production values for a budget-priced game too.
