Xbox Live and Xbox.com back online

Update 2: According to Major Nelson's Twitter and various reports from readers, Xbox Live is back online. Again, we'd warn you to expect some rolling restarts as millions of gamers attempt to reconnect. "The storm has passed," Major wrote. "Back to Live you all go." Well, then? Go!

Update 1: Looks like Xbox Live and Xbox.com have gone down again. According to the Xbox.com support page, Microsoft is aware of the issue and is currently working on a solution.

Original Story: Users are emailing us en masse that Xbox Live has just stopped working. Reports are circulating from users across the globe that the online service is no longer allowing players to connect. Xbox Live recently underwent a 26-hour offline maintenance on Monday but throughout the day today users complained of issues from downloading content, playing online games and in minor cases connecting at all.

Xbox.com also appears to be having issues as it is not displaying player profiles and is loading pages slowly. Currently, Xbox.com's support page does not list the service is experiencing any issues other than TruSkill and EXP rewarding problems associated with Halo 3. We'll keep you posted as details come in.

Original Update: According to the Xbox Technical Support phone line Xbox Live is experiencing network issues that are keeping some customers from accessing the service. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is currently working on it and recommends users attempt to reconnect in one hour. Don't shoot the messenger.

I have an xbox 360 elite, my bro has a newly 80GB PS3. He onyl has MGS....a LBP beta code (that I won for him)....... and that's it!!!
I, on the other hand, have Fable, halo, Gears of War, and soon Banjo!

And about xbox live, well, his console crashes all the time and I've never had issues while Im on live. :D

I can't believe that a simple discussion about Xbox Live being down has turned into a big fanboy war. I know the name of the website so no pun was intended.

I just think its sad in this day and age that people feel they need to criticise people on what console they own and which is better. It's like arguing which is better, black or white. There is no clear answer because both offer something unique and you choose the console of your choice.

Petty arguments like this put me off from sites like this, why can't people who want to argue go do it somewhere else or more simply, get over yourself and shut up.

Move on with your life, theres more to it than blu-ray or Gears of War.

Mine was offline for a few hours but only because it couldn't update Oblivion for some reason. But now I'm back online so everything is cool.

I hope whoever is responsible for this idiocy and terrible service gets their testicles eaten by a lion.

Stop crying. For Microsoft to pin-point every issue after there maintenance on all of there servers is impossible. There doing this maintenance for you to have stability and new features in the future. I'm sure you people can find something else to do while Microsoft works out there issues. And remember, its not magic running this service, its hardware.

its down its up its weird its like a woman it doesnt kno what it wants...i got knocked off madden in the 4th quater...sux i ws in before for a few min but cant get in now..

I hate the fact that it's still down for me, but I love why it's down. The NXE is gonna be great, even if we may wait 1 /12 months for it.

It's actually funny that you people get all upset because live is down for a few hours due to maintenance . Honestly get a life, there's plenty of other stuff to do, like I dunno take your girlfriend out to a movie(assuming half of you know what a female is).

ITS DOWN AGAIN!!!! sucks....
