European 360 sales double, outsells PS3 by 2:1

With the newly new European Xbox 360 price cuts, Microsoft is pleased to gloat that Xbox 360 sales have been outselling the Playstation 3 two-to-one in European markets.

"We've seen uplift in all countries in Europe and are confident that even at this rate of growth we can keep retail satisfied with a steady supply of consoles throughout the Christmas season," said VP of Xbox Europe Chris Lewis, revealing that Chart Track pegs 360 sales in Europe to have increased 214% over the past two weeks. "This data shows that the Xbox 360 trajectory continues upwards," and continue it will. Oh yes, friends, continue it will.

Annnnnnd your point is? 360's outsold PS3 also IN JAPAN! It killed PS3 here in NA as well. I just don't see what was your point in posting? Why don't you go over to PS3Fanboy and slobber and drool over LBP or something.

Hey, i'm a visiting PS3 fanboy I was just looking to see if it was Europe as a whole or just the UK. Anyways could someone direct me to PS3F so I can drool over LittleBig Planet?

Yeah, I was getting ready to say, I have over 40+ retail and 30+ arcade titles. I love my 360, but the UK is not all of Europe. I see good games to come, because I know our lineup isn't completely announced.

Here in sweden you can almost buy 2 360 arcade consoles for the price of one wii system.

You can buy 3 360 arcade for the price of one ps3 40gb system in some stores.

Hopefully with these sales numbers they will start working on Crackdown 2. Come on Davey and Real time Worlds! I want to get some more action!

LOL, nice attemp at faking the info. These are NOT European numbers (the 360 is getting killed in mainland Europe), it's UK only.

Even then, the PS3 and 360 have both equally sold 1m units since last September in the UK.

Last time I checked, the UK was in Europe.

Besides, they weren't making stuff up AFAIK, they were just reporting the UK numbers and failing to mention Europe as a whole. That's just good old marketing, everyone does it.

I think this is another indication that the magic number range for Consoles is $200-250 ($300 max for added value pkgs)

I also think $50 (or less) is the magic number for game prices and that developers are losing buyers by insisting on $60.

I would buy so many more new games if they were in the $45 range - whatever gets me out the door for less than $50. I'll still pay $60 for AAA games like Gears, Halo, etc, but I think a lot of gamers would rather rent, trade-in, or buy used than pay $65+ (after tax) for most titles available, even if the demo is enticing.

i was gonna get a 360 2 days ago just for halo 3.. then my bro said.. dude what are u gonna play when u get tired of halo.. so looked up future exclusives for the 360.. i found fable 2(bleh) and GoW2(not a fan) so i bought an ipod nano instead and stuck with my ps3... someone convince me what GOOD exclusive are coming to the 360.. name 3 and youve got urself another person to tea-bag in halo

Bottom line, its just way better than PS3 and I have both. IMO of course.

Well there's free online on the PS3 and the rest really comes down to personal preference.
- Better Controller
DualShock3 > Xbox 360 Pad ... but again, personal preference.
- No mandatory installs
One setup to bring down loadtimes, so what? I've installed on the PC for years.
- Fast Title Updates
Well some titles on the PS3 get bigger updates than the occasional mini fix.
- Fast Firware Updates
Okay a PS3 system update takes time, but at least they are bringing them more often.
- New Xbox Experience
System update ... oh look a new UI
- Achievements in every game
That's really just a pro-argument for gamerscorewh**s

And if you really have to come up with that old titles space filler list of games with some soon to be released games thrown in, you really need to check out some more games on Sony's platform.

And just for the record, I own both and play both of them equally.

On another note: With the recent price drop in Europe a few of my friends are buying a second or even third console just in case one breaks down.
I currently have 7 people on my list with a box on it's way to the repair shop. 5 of them went and got a Arcade.

the way i see it, the 360 is just the cheaper way to get your game on. ....sorry, i wasn't cool and post a list. :(

The UK is not representative of Europe. It might keep up here, but the rest of Europe will go back to PS3.

Most of what you said is subjective and totally dependent on user preference, so your argument doesn't really prove anything. And besides, the #1 reason to own a 360 over a PS3 is price. You can get almost the exact same gaming experience on the 360 and still have $200 left to purchase games. And forget the Blu-Ray player. Sony is punishing you by making you pay for something you may or may not use. The 360's primary function is a game system. If you want a Blu-Ray player, go buy a stand alone unit. I would bet that less than half of the 360 owners out there really want a Blu-Ray player. And instead of throwing everything in the box at least Microsoft lets you decide what accessories to buy. Of course there are the hardcore gamers who will buy every accessory for the 360, but the vast majority will only get 1-2 accessories, and save a ton of cash. Not so with the PS3.

If you have to bring up console sales to justify your expenditure on a lesser system, then you're unhappy with your purchase. The failure rate alone on the xbox360 guarantees that i'd never buy one. People talk about xbox live...but what is the point? I have a ps3 to play games.....thats it.......human interaction is done in-game.....i don't need it......like some of you have said, personal preference.

ps3 has

wifi built in--xbox equivalent $100
bluray player--xbox equivalent n/a
dualshock3--xbox has a mutant controller
ps3's don't break-xbox..red circle of death.

Honestly if you're happy with xbox, thats great, but why do you feel the need to come on boards such as these and perk eachother up and backslap about how great your system is? I don't go on ps3 fanboy sites......because i'm content.
