Possible new Nintendo hardware spotted
We have absolutely no idea why GAF user Shiggy was searching for Nintendo-made pedometer trademarks. But his discovery of just such a trademark is a reminder of why this mixed-up, big, blue ball takes all kinds of people to keep it going round.
We're a little sketchy on exactly what a pedometer is (we know Ubisoft made one), but we're betting this is either a Wii Fit-related way to count steps taken ... or Nintendo's latest child-security feature: A meter that detects the number of pedophiles in the area. We're pretty sure it's the former, but hoping it's the latter, if only to help us find nearby Gary Glitter concerts.

Why don't you have a seat
Al2x @ Sep 30th 2008 3:02PM
No, no it's ok...I'm just going to leave...
Levi @ Sep 30th 2008 3:15PM
This comment would be funnier if Mr. ESC was able to post it.
Vidikron @ Sep 30th 2008 9:59AM
Heh... I thought Nintendo said they were done with Wii peripherals.
bm @ Sep 30th 2008 11:39AM
I know you're having fun and all, but dude, it's just a pedometer. For all you know it's a standalone thing which wouldn't even make it a peripheral. Did you cry yourself to sleep when Rockband was announced? Who cares? (Oh, I know who - trolls.)
Vidikron @ Sep 30th 2008 12:05PM
Just an observation. I fully expected Nintendo to keep milking the fanbase.

SHOCKER: HARDWARE COMPANY MAKES HARDWARE PRODUCTS - EXPECTS REVENUE
macgyver @ Sep 30th 2008 10:05AM
a 360 guide button on a nintendo peripheral?
Heyyou27 @ Sep 30th 2008 10:21AM
That's a screw, not a button.
343 Guilty Fart @ Sep 30th 2008 12:22PM
Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?
Lone Starr @ Sep 30th 2008 12:29PM
Wow Guilty Fart, words cannot describe the epic win in your post. Er, except "epic win."
343 Guilty Fart @ Sep 30th 2008 1:59PM
Thanks, I'll be here all night.
Dirty @ Sep 30th 2008 10:11AM
Looks like it could be some sort of dust vacuum.
Obie @ Sep 30th 2008 10:13AM
Unless it's a storage solution for the Wii...they can keep it.
Anotherbobhead @ Sep 30th 2008 10:20AM
Wow, Justin's on a news roll this morning! Now I can finally get my dream game: Pokemon Pikachu Pocket Notpocket! Kids everywhere can run around with this in there pocket with a danger meter for nearby pedophiles! Go closer for more points!
Kinsey @ Sep 30th 2008 10:28AM
A pedometer measures how many steps a person takes while running or walking and can determine an estimate of how fast a person is moving as well. Of course for the Wii you can really move around anywhere so you'd think a mat would do just fine.
Citizensnips @ Sep 30th 2008 10:36AM
If they find a way for it to work WITH wii fit by linking the pedometer to the game to measure how many steps you took throughout the day, then this will actually be quite useful. If it works like a real pedometer, then it could be worn underneath your sock all day while your working, jogging, etc. My mom still plays wii fit several times a week, and she'd love this.
Duane Roelands @ Sep 30th 2008 10:45AM
Jokes about child rape are hi-larious. Stay classy, Justin.
Roto13 @ Sep 30th 2008 12:50PM
Over 9000 penises and all that. :P
coyotej @ Sep 30th 2008 10:47AM
Oh good! I was wondering where my garage door opener went. . .
vgxtremist @ Sep 30th 2008 1:52PM
Darn, that was going to be my joke.

"Why don't you have a seat"
Hahahah, mfg. Nailed it.
dark_inchworm @ Sep 30th 2008 10:52AM
I kissed an underage girl and I liked it.
The taste of her cherry chapstick...
Kye - Me_DF @ Sep 30th 2008 10:54AM
The new DS?
Ahh who am I kidding? This comment is just an excuse for me to check my post history.
Johnbot5k @ Sep 30th 2008 11:11AM
WHAT?!? That looks like my GF's birth control pills!
Brazell @ Sep 30th 2008 11:36AM
Which, like this mythical Nintendo device, will never have any use.
(zing! :-D)
Johnbot5k @ Sep 30th 2008 11:41AM
Doh!!! Hahaha
Alzheimers @ Sep 30th 2008 11:11AM
Once again, Nintendo revolutionizes the way we play games by introducing the first controller with *no* buttons.
When asked for comment, Reggie Fils-Ame responded that when Nintendo "...told core gamers to take a hike..." he meant it literally!
arjun @ Sep 30th 2008 11:14AM
wait if this is a pedometer which measures the step count then what if its a new ds version of wii fit? DSfit or something. I really hope it isnt. It'll just show how much they love the casual gamer...
Mr Khan @ Sep 30th 2008 1:05PM
They love casual gamers.
They love hardcore gamers*.
They love gamers in general, that's why they cater to them.
*i hereby reserve the right to prevent people from using that point against me.
Mr Khan @ Sep 30th 2008 11:31AM
I couldn't imagine it being Wii related, since the Wii remote functioned well enough as a pedometer for Wii Fit, so it probably would be DS related
DS Fit sounds close enough. While Wii Fit was more of a game, this would be more of a practical app fitness tracker, to go with the evolving image of the DS as a device for everyone.
Vidikron @ Sep 30th 2008 12:08PM
Yeah, good point. Why would you even need one of these with the WiiFit? Surely it's possible to count steps uing the board already.
zlickrick @ Sep 30th 2008 12:00PM
Dude, why the fuck do you have a compact mirror?
Ethan @ Sep 30th 2008 12:18PM
Yeah, I think selling vibrators could expand the female market.
mr mobius @ Sep 30th 2008 12:21PM
Didn't Nintendo do this in the late 90s with some sort of pokemon pedometer?
Zwilnik @ Sep 30th 2008 12:36PM
Play.com are listing a WiiJog in their Wii accessories at the moment with a pre-order date. I'm assuming it's a a Wii version of the Nike+ gadget for the iPod.
Shroomsday @ Sep 30th 2008 12:53PM
It's the new WiiPhone with integral powder-compact.
What is not shown here is the combined stylus/makeup brush.
The girls are gonna love it!
Xoviet chiK @ Sep 30th 2008 2:34PM
That looks like a phillips head screw. Nintendo has been using Tri Wing screws in all of their accessories since at least GBA and GCN.
Xoviet chiK @ Sep 30th 2008 2:36PM
Argh, never mind. Most people don't have tri wing bits, and they'll eventually need to change the battery (and that looks like a battery hatch).
Transcendental Protagonist @ Sep 30th 2008 4:44PM
Looks like something you can cook with... liek some cheeseburger or something
Cesaria (Gamertag: Cesaria360) @ Sep 30th 2008 5:45PM
Maybe this is an extension to Wii Fit to track your progress through out the day, and when you get home, it wirelessly (is that a word?) downloads the data to your Wii Fit game. Just a thought.
Shiningmonk_e @ Sep 30th 2008 6:15PM
Well it has and IR pointer and a wrist strap spot. I'm not sure what it could be used for though. Nintendo is always full of surprises...unlike microsoft.
DrGoregasm @ Sep 30th 2008 7:01PM
wtf enough with the add on shit already, i want to see some better games
OrBiTaL @ Oct 10th 2008 1:01PM
OMG !!!!
It's the new George Foreman Grill for Wii.
Super Mario Burger included.
