Fable 2 CE now less collectible and less expensive

Microsoft just made an interesting announcement today regarding the Fable 2 Collector's Edition, by revealing that the retail price has dropped from $79 to $69, but they also removed a few of the edition's limited items.

Due to "supply chain issues", the Collector's Edition will no longer include the premium packaging, five fate cards or the adorable Hobbe Qee figure. Sad, depressing and crappy news! The new and $10 cheaper CE will be comprised of a copy of Fable 2, a making-of DVD and bonus in-game content ("The Hall of the Dead" Dungeon, "The Wreckager" Legendary Cutlass Weapon, and Spartan armor with energy sword). The new price for this less collectible CE is $69. Just think at how amazing that Hobbe figure would have been ... humph!

Finally, Lionhead is giving away a sampling of Fable and Fable II music tracks for free through Sumthing Digital. The album download will be free beginning October 6th and can be accessed by entering promo code "FableCollection" over at SumthingDigital.com.

So basically they took out the useless crap and cut the price $10. Sounds good to me.

Well I guess it might be neat having a hobbe. But I'm sure if you want one there will be places you can order hobbes from, no doubt about that.

Are you high? They've taken out everything that makes this edition special. Now it's just some in-game content that they should probably go ahead and include in the regular edition and yet another "Making of" DVD. How many "Making of" DVDs can one person watch?

Well at least they lowered the price... Still pissed though. =\

You were going to spend ANOTHER $10 for a plastic keychain(cool, but not worth it), and some fate cards that would collect dust..

Since im getting it for free it wouldn't matter. Either way its 10 bucks... Chump change. At least im not buying the Dead Space super crazy limited edition. Now that's crazy.

This works out great for me. All I wanted was the game content. Now I think I'll definitely get the CE.

I had only pre-ordered the regular edition... but I am tempted at the lower price of the CE, so I might have to go change it over. I'm really just interested in that additional content...

So much for that great deal from amazon... Oh well, I didn't want all that extra crap anyways, just the in game content.

I'm in the same boat too, what was an awesome discount is just a few bucks, maybe Amazon will make it right. For me they had already given out all the Pub Games codes and gave me a $10 gift certificate instead, so it is possible.

Same here... This game launch is a mess...

I just canceled my preorder from amazon and got the regular edit. It comes with a 10 gift card too. So much for the LE. They will likely release the in game content for 800 pts later anyways. I am new to fable so I do not need all that stuff. I am sure the regular game will be enough.

yea you right, however he did say alot of crap lies about fable 1, much like the hyped CE fable 2 goodies, regardless of who does what concerning this game, i bet its alot like the first. overhyped, unworthy of the price and full of lies.

I'm conflicted. I'd like extra content, but the standard edition has much nicer cover art, and a case that'll fit into my DVD tower. Bah.

Crappy, I'd be sold if it just came with a tin case. I LIKE SHINY SMOOTH CASES.

While I admit I wouldn't have had a use for a Hobbe figurine and those cards, I'm still a little dissapointed. At least the in-game content is still included.

Hopefully they get the co-op ready by launch.

Just great. Here, the price stays the same, we get less content, and we're likely not to get the bonus content because of Microsoft's stupidity.

What the hell? What a load of crap! Some of us actually -wanted- the full package, y'know. -_-

Chances are they don't have a different notice for promo codes that haven't yet been made effective. Since it's before the 6th of October, it will return "expired".

although I'm upset I'm not getting all the stuff I was planning on getting, i think $10 less on games this holiday is a good thing...so i guess this is good news.

Mixed feelings about this. Fate cards i never even understood, let alone wanted. But the hobbe looked so damned adorable. But 10 bucks cheaper and including a soundtrack is always nice.

I think we all are..

You don't get:
-The CE Tin Box
-Fate Cards
-Keychain

but you:
-Save $10 that can go towards another game
-Get a bonus DVD with an extra 'Making-of' Feature
-Still keep all the in-game content goodness

So it's both good and bad.

I see it this way: more people ordered the collector's edition then they expected, they didn't make enough figures and cards to fill all the orders, so they just took it out.

Way to be prepared. First there's the "lie" about the Pub Games glitch being there on purpose, and yet they patched it, now this. Fable II better be the best game EVAH or... I'll just be a little disappointed and play something else.

"Legendary Cutlass Weapon"?

Isn't Legendary the top tier of weapon in Fable?

I'm actually kind of glad they took the Hobbe out. What they should've done is be able to make a figurine of your Fable II Character.
