Me too, but I have a feeling I'll be so engrossed in LBP that I won't have time for anything else. Why do they have to release all the best games at the same time, god dammit!

I'm so hyped for this game. With this, Saints Row 2, LBP, and Fable 2 all this month... I think I'm going to lose my job & my girlfriend... but at least I'll have my console's warm embrace.

I like my 360, I don't have to pay for a heater. It's a game and heating system all in one!
It's cost effective! WOOOOOO! Go 360!

"so many areas to explore – and things to kill"

That's pretty much what I expected. So it's TES with firearms. It might be a fun action/exploration timesink, then.

I think I'm leaning towards Disaster on the Wii for October instead of this or Fable.

I recently had a go with Oblivion on my friend's PS3 and I suddenly remembered why I despised Morrowind on the Xbox. I'm getting the same epic-nothing vibe from this.

Eh, I agree with Nigeria on the "epic-nothing" feel to this. Just because a world is huge and vast to explore, doesn't mean it's fun. It's awesome if you need an escape from RL, but that's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally I rather have a straight forward amazing narrative (Star Wars: Force Unleashed, God of War, Heavenly Sword), then these massive "make your own adventure" interactive books. Not saying Fallout 3 will be bad, but after Oblivion I think I'm burned out on "epic-nothing" sandbox games.

So I can't say it's the same as saying screw GoW2 /KZ2 /Resistance2, you'll take fodder. It's more of a "screw GTA4, I'll go play Force Unleashed". Trading one massive open action game for a more story-centric experience.

I don't agree with Nigiria about playing anything for the Wii though.

Well, I for one, love western RPGs. One of my favorite series of all time was Ultima and I had thought WRPGs were gone forever when Ultima 9 came out, until I discovered Elder Scrolls!

I am pretty shocked to see Oblivion called an epic nothing. I must have played the hell out of a different game than you did.

"I am pretty shocked to see Oblivion called an epic nothing. I must have played the hell out of a different game than you did."

- Yeah, because everyone MUST like the same games. No one is allowed to have preferences or opinions other than yours. I spent 189 hours on Final Fantasy X, 250 hours playing FF Tactics Advance on GBA, and lately about 70 hours on Champions: Return to Arms on PS2. By your logic, surely EVERYONE must love them too then because I "played the hell out of it".

Oblivion bored me. Maybe because it was just Morrowind with a broken leveling system? Don't know, but it honestly wasn't my cup of tea. So saying its epic-nothing for me would be 100% accurate.

Hey jackass, that was quite a fit you just pitched for a simple statement.

Epic nothing is a very strong term - the game had great reviews and most people loved it. So epic nothing doesn't jive well with the game we all know.

Have your own opinion, but maybe next time you can not freak out like a 3 year old when someone says they are shocked by it.

My solution is to pick games I really don't want spoiled or the ones I like most:

Fallout 3 (when the TV is busy)
LBP (when the TV is not busy)
Mirrors Edge (for 3 days to beat it once or twice)
Left 4 Dead (for multiplayer hotness)

That way I can enjoy these ones without feeling rushed to be playing something else. I can go back and play the other ones when I have time for games. (Except the 360 ones, cuz I don't have a 360...)

I think this problem is going to get much much worse in the future, though. Playing them *all* just won't be possible for both money and time.

Yeah I got GF. I'm just now getting PURE and SW:TFU. Ima try to beat the crap outta both before Deadspace and FC2 release. Like I said its a great problem to have.

The ones I'm probably buying for sure outta that list are Gears 2, BanjoK NaB, Left4Dead, and LBP, the rest are rentals.

I got the LBP Beta and decided it's really not for me. Discovering that made me sad. Playing with the little doll dude was awesome. I love how you could control his emotions. But playing a level while building upon it really wasn't working for me. Back to your point Fenix, there are a shit ton of awesome games coming out really soon! I also have GameFly and will be using that as much as I can

If you have a good PC, or plan to buy a better PC ever, then get it on PC. You will should always be able to reinstall in the future on PC. What are the chances of the XB720 being properly backwards compatible?

At the same time, it should work perfectly on 360, while PC will take some time to work out all the bugs with everyone's unique setup.

PC all the way. The original Fallout 1 and 2 modders are still around and likely to do awesome things with this if they feel it's approachable.

Did they hire more than 4 voice actors this time? Its really a shame Patrick Stuart used up the whole voice actor budget for Oblivion. It was very jarring to keep running into the same 4 people over and over.

"The blood tide is rising" just wasnt worth it.

Guess an embargo lifted today.

Here's my game list:

Fallout 3
LBP
Mirror's Edge
Valkyria Chronicles
COD: WoW

Because Fallout and LBP will consume my time, Mirror's Edge will satisfy my racing needs, VC for the strategy and COD for when I want to p0wn n00bs

Thats how the game was originally described. The videos are not really a good proof-of-concept because the people playing are not that good. Basically, there should be ways to use the environment in order to lose the least amount of momentum when running. Also, there will be time attack modes.

This makes me thing that Mirror's Edge will (hopefully) be a race/puzzle game more than anything else.

If this game totally fails, I will still have GT5p to fall back on.

Fallout 1 & 2 were my favorite games. I feel like one of the few old time fans who are loving what fallout 3 is turning into. It seems they kept the humor and atmosphere of the originals. It’s nice to see others here who are as excited as I am for the game.

I don't think most people that are excited for Fallout 3 have played the first two games have they? I think some now are trying out those games before this launches, the halo effect and complain their too old. : )

Can't believe I first started playing Fallout ten years ago, and 99 is when I first got to play the 2nd game.

I decided not to read this either. I dont want to see anything that may spoil the experience for me. Wierd I know. Im so hyped for this game though.

p.s. Im sick of all the great games coming out during the holiday season. Fools should just do a steady release all year long. But gotta do it when the money is right I guess. But im sure all the games I want will still be sitting on the gamestore shelf when I decided Im ready for them.

sooo...this is one of those brown/grey colored games then that everybody complained about for launch titles? at least the color scheme fits what the planet would look like after a fallout...

looks great....my current game buying/playing strategy is to get games that are online-enabled (co-op/multiplayer) and rent single-player games (RPGs, etc)...unless a title REALLY stands out that I must buy day one....

Well... this is it. If this is anything like Bethsoft's previous Oblivion, you will be immersed for far longer than any reasonable rental would allow. You will wish you skipped the rental when you're buying it afterwards.
