A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then, it is the year Ten Thousand One Ninety One. The Universe is ruled by GameStop Emperor Daniel DeMatteo IV, ... my father. In this time, the most precious substance in the Universe is the video game. The games extend life, the games expand consciousness, games are vital to existence.
The Gaming Guild and its Navigators, whom the games have mutated over eight thousand years, began solidifying their control over the universe when the precursor to the guild, an ancient corporation called GameStop, purchased a Francais company called Micromania for $700 million. GameStop gained 332 stores and increased its European store count to 1077 (global: 5889). At the time, the company said it would increase its earnings for the year. There was no way to know the truth.

Didn't he appear in an episode of Futurama? I think that should count.

A time comes in each man's life when he must decide whether to leave a formally completed game on the shelf, or to pass on its life-water to the sietch. Just as the Shai-halud has deemed it, the decision is one's own. Just make sure you are prepared to deal with the regret of not being able to join in retro-night multiplayer madness.

Dune is amazing-- minus the new, piece of shit books that Herbert's idiot son co-wrote.

You know, those ones weren't too bad-- mostly because they had almost nothing to do wit Dune. It was like a different series-- except KJA had some source material to work with.
But the ones that were immediate prequels to the series-- garbage. Events took place that was unrealistic and improbable based on the originals chronology, but they paved a decent story-- mostly because of use of Frank Herbert's characters.
But the final two books in the series were absolutely disgusting. I only kept reading because it was like a horrible accident that you can't look away from. They shamelessly plugged their own characters from the prequels, they destroyed the depth of Frank's characters.... ahhh. Pisses me off.

Hey Jeff I'm a big Dune fan here as well...
I'm curious which prequel you're referring to?
The House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and House Corrino trilogy? Or Paul of Dune?
Just curious as to which one you hated? Personally I like all the "House fill in the blank books"...those were excellent stories that made perfect sense IMO.
I also like the Legend of Dune series. Classic Dune.

I'm trying to somehow tie Zap Rowsdower into Dune, but it's not working, so I'll just give up and say I dig the Rowsdower icon.

Dune Book > Dune Movie. Very long movie with a disappointing payoff at the end. Very creative use of the script through for this story.

CHALLENGE: "Have you seen The Preacher?"
RESPONSE: "I have seen Micromania."
CHALLENGE: "What about Micromania?"
RESPONSE: "It gives us the air we breathe."
CHALLENGE: "Then why do we destroy its land?"
RESPONSE: "Because GameStop [micromania defiled] orders it."
... Crap.

I must not pre-order
Preorders are the wallet-killer.
Preorders are the little-screw that brings total obliteration.
I will face the Gamestop employee.
I will permit his game recommendations to pass over me and through me.
And when he has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see his path.
Where the he has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

instead of bailing out wall street, america should just buy 332,000 gaming stores in europe. it would be sweet.

I can't help but feel like Gamestop may be trying to take over the world.
They seem to be doing it wrong though...
Nazi Germany tried to take over France BEFORE the US.
Oh well, it seems to be working.

If the nazis attempted to take over the world by going through France and got devoured by the Allies, then perhaps Gamestop had the right idea by going after the Allies first.
I am writing this with the potentially incorrect theory that Gamestop has locations in most of the Allied nations though, so pardon me if I'm wrong here.
