A new Klonoa game from Namco Bandai, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, is being developed for Wii, according to the latest issue of Famitsu magazine. It's a remake of the first Klonoa game on the PSOne, which also happens to be called Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (you can read up on it at Wikipedia here). The presentation, as you can see above, is cel-shaded, bright and colorful, maintaining the look of the franchise. We like it, to be honest. And, as is custom with the Klonoa games, expect this title to have plenty of platforming segments to go through.
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is scheduled for a December 4th release in Japan.

Klonoa had an awfully cute volleyball game on the Playstation. I remember using that game as a pseudo-justification for playing DOA volleyball on the Xbox a couple years later.
I didn't know Klonoa was a platform hero, though.

Now that you mention it, his sidekick Huepow (Hyupo) looks a lot like a Chao :)
On topic:
My experience with the series is a bit limited, I played the first GBA Klonoa:Empire of Dreams and PS1 Door to Phantomile after a fellow Dewy's Adventure fan suggested it to me. Both games were very good.
I'm still looking for the second mainline GBA game (never released in PAL lands) and the PS2 sequel (seems to be very rare)
The character models look solid, but um... am I imagining things or does Klonoa look more like an adult now :(

Man, getting bored already of all this ports.
I rather have beffed up games. Oh, wait, did you said PSONE game, meaning this is a beffed up game...... still no thanks, never been atached to this franchise. They should better give us Time Crisis. Come on Namco Bandai, seems like you don't like money, do you?

did you even play the first Klonoa game?
If you did, I can't imagine anyone saying you are against the remake.
I am usually against remakes too. But considering how many people missed out on the original, this is worth it.

Since I've never heard of this game/series before, I'm interested despite being a remake.

Fantastic news. I never played the PSone version, but the PS2 version captured my heart, and I've never gotten over having to sell that game to help pay some bills. The GBA versions were great, too.

In the word of the cat rabbit thing himself: WAHOO!
I've only played the PS2 sequel Lunatea's Veil, but I heard DtP is very hard to find, much less buy due to its rarity and popularity.
If this is coming to the US, I really like to play it.

Yes yes YES! I have so missed my floppy-eared friend! And a remake of Door To Phantomile? Bitchin'!
Namco's decided to remodel the original cat-eyed character design? Okay, fine by me. I just want this sucker on my doorstep by Springtime.

I love that the Japanese devs treat Wii like a real console. Gives me the only kind of 3rd party games i really want anyway. I was never into realism much (not properly opposed to it either, it makes for good atmospheric games and some schweet sci fi, but i prefer color and style)

Same here.
And this isn't a form of Japanophilia:
Aside from a few exceptions (EA's Boom Blox, Blue Toungue's de Blob Wii...), games originating from Japan feel like they belong on the system.

Yes. YES.
SUPER YES.
This game, my friends, is the stuff dreams are made out of. Fluffy, good dreams, at that (the game has a decent story about dreams, you see).
Also the music owns. I hope everyone here buys this game...it better come out in America.

HELLS YES. *JOYGASM*
I've played Lunatea's Veil and the one for the GBA. I've been long searching for this one. Now they're going to remake it. Nintendo has my money. If I don't see it here, I will fly to Japan and personally beat the s**t out of everyone until I do.

Honestly,
This is probably the best platformer to come out on the PlayStation. The sequels are all great, but this game created the formula and used it to perfection. I really can't wait to see this one on the Wii. I'm sure it will be stellar!
Thanks for the news,
manaman
