Except this is 20 tracks... and 2 of Nevermind's 12 tracks are already available on RB/RB2 discs. So that's 10 songs unaccounted for.

The 20 tracks will be a variety pack, that way everyone will have something they like. They wouldn't release entire collections of an artist like that, HMX leaves that for the other guy to do *coughAerosmithSabbathHendrixAliccacough*

Except that Harmonix is readying a standalone AC/DC release, making your poor argument invalid.

Big difference, Rock Band's AC/DC is an album release that's no different from say The Cars or The Pixies releases on RB DLC. They're an addition. GH makes standalone games for the full $60.

My point being was HMX wouldn't release a game that is centered 100% around a single artist. On any RETAIL release (which I'd consider this 20 bonus tracks to be, part of RB2), HMX wouldn't be so heavy on one artist, or even one genre. They try to hit the wide array, something for everyone sort of thing.

I'm looking forward to getting these tracks no matter what they are... I mean who doesn't like free stuff? Great plan on their part too. Get those casuals used to downloading content. I just wonder how many of those casuals know about the registration code stuff to begin with.

Agreed, I'll take 20 free tracks any day. I'm guessing they're gonna be bonus tracks like Sprode, Bang Camaro, etc.

Now if only they weren't releasing RB2 a couple days before LBP...

Nice, I will do this when I get home. I totally missed this until I read it the other day on the forums. Sweet. 20 free songs. I just hope there are some well known artists.

I've been reserving full judgement on the song list until these come out. My slightly realistic hopes are for some Queen and Freezepop, and my completely unrealistic ones are for The Matches, Pompeii, Death Cab, or some SSTB-era Coheed.

Also, if you haven't heard Pompeii, do yourself a favour and check them out.

I just hope these 20 songs are by bands that people have actually heard of, and not some of the "popular" Harmonix bands. We already got those "bonus" tracks on disk. These 20 tracks should be stuff that everyone will know.

Cream and Bastards Rise by Harvey Danger will be in the track packs, as it was confirmed by Jeff Linn, jlin in the link, on the band's forums.

He confirms that it's DLC...not necessarily a track from the free 20 pack.

The way they refer to them as "Bonus Tracks" make it seem that it will be the Harmonix teams bands, the usual ones that appear in the bonus tracks of their disc releases.

Maybe it will have other stuff, maybe the other stuff will be good, and maybe it will actually be main stream stuff, but I would put money on HMX bands.

I would guess that the release will be after Guitar Hero World Tour drops, or even the same week. Since several of those songs on the link were also in GH:WT.

Hot Hot Heat - Bandages
Bad Religion - Suffer

Have both been released already. But the rest of the list is possible.

I don't know if that list is accurate or not, but if it is it's a pretty good list as far as free is concerned.

Anyone know if this offer is 360 only or will PS3 get this as well?

PS3 will get it as well. It's just a matter of if they will also have to get it as DLC or if it will come on disc.

3. Static-X - Push It
5. Blink 182 - Dammit
7. Dead Kennedys - Holiday in Cambodia
12. Pennywise - The Western World
14. Sublime - Santeria
18. Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows
19. The Killers - Somebody Told Me
----------------------------------------------
I would like these 7 for the most part... Pennywise would just be nice because that means HMX actually knows they exist and consider them for RB... Just saddened it isn't a more classic choice, something from Unknown Road, About Time, or Full Circle. Some stuff from From the Ashes would be sweet too.

Still wondering where the hell some of Green Day's Basketcase is... Figured that to be a no brainer since everyone knows half the album and it's an awesome album.

You're thinking of Dookie n00b, and yes those songs are awesome, I would like all of them.

Too bad the taking back sunday song is off their new shitty cd. If they had something like a decade under the influence that would be awesome, that song is such a great singalong.

There's that, and the fact that 3-4 of those songs are already out as DLC now.

His source was probably something about upcoming DLC, and he assumed it was "The 20".

Frankly, I want all 20 to be a mystery. That way when I go to the "Bonus Pack Tour Challenge" or wahtever it'll be called I can be surprised as each song comes up.

I'm hoping one is a Rick Roll. It's gotta be why they haven't said anything yet...

As pointed out, 2 of those songs are already out (read; not free)

This makes me believe that list isn't the 20 Free songs, but 20 songs that are eventually going to be available for download in one way or another.

There was another rumored leaked list that seems more realistic (more obscure type bands), and it had DETHKLOK on it (Briefcase Full of Guts to be specific) but I can't find it right now.

I originally thought what all of you guys were thinking with the 20 random songs, I have reason to believe that it won't be that simple. Upon registering my RB2 Code, I noticed that they mentioned the registration is first, then the songs will be released in a few weeks because they want to put the same time into those songs as they did with the on disc songs. Idk about you, but making a pretty good chart takes eh 2 days? Especially if they have been bragging about these 20 songs since the beginning of summer.
After that bamboozlment, I clicked accept and it brought me to another registration page, name address ect with a comment box at the bottom labeled song suggestions. Which leads me to believe these 20 songs haven't been picked yet, they are taking everyones input to either make a very unique 20 song setlist, or everyone gets a certain number of songs + the ones that you recommended to equal 20 songs, since each person has a different code, this can be a possibility. If so, I'm gonna be a happy camper with my Senses Fail, Saosin, and Lostprophets.

I bought my copy of RB2 used at Game Stop. Am I totally out of luck on getting a redemption code for these 20 songs? (I can't believe I found a used copy already and honestly shoulda just bought a new one because I only got like 6 bucks off the game and no redemption code...)
