Square Enix has revealed a new chapter in the long-titled Final Fantasy sub-series, Crystal Chronicles. According to the latest issue of Shonen Jump (via Gamekyo) FF:CC:Echoes of Time is coming January 29 in Japan for both Wii and DS. The game will allow DS and Wii users to play alongside one another simultaneously, and will enable Mii characters to be used in the DS version.
No other details are provided, but given the timing of this issue, we'd be surprised not to see Echoes of Time at this month's Tokyo Game Show.

I'm pretty sure they are separated, and given current strategy of Nintendo, revealing the games pretty close to their release date to not create too much Hype (just what happened to Disaster and Rygar) I'm keeping hope Crystal Bearers is still comming.
As for this game, it has final Fantasy on the title, its sold for me (yeah, i'm a sucker whore for FF games)

Mii support in a DS game makes this a must buy for me.

Crystal Chronicles has some of the best art direction and character design in series history, why ruin that with the inclusion of simplistic Miis?

Joystiq bloggers are worse than the commentors here when it comes to reading articles. Details on the game follow this.
- Play at the same time on the Wii and DS, thanks to Pollux Engine created by Square Enix.
- Players on the Wii and players on the Nintendo DS will be able to play online together.
- Different gameplay for the 2 versions (stylus or Wiimote).
- Story revolves around Charlotta and a mysterious crystal.
- You can transfer Mii characters you made to the DS version.

This is even cooler than Mii support on DS. Like, way cooler.

Screw you dude, the FF:CC series is a nice fresh breath of air for the overall series. It's always been steering towards some steam punk or sci fi bullshit in the past 5 numbered games or so, let's have one series stick with a fantasy focused direction for once.
And thank you GOD it's going to have online, now my friends and I can actually play this one together.

To clarify, I don't mind those two former categories mixed in with my fantasy RPG's, but occasionally, I do sometimes like some flat out fantasy with no stupid extra genre twists.

So, this sounds like the final nail in the coffin for Crystal Bearers. I hope to god I'm wrong though, the trailer looked awesome and seemed like it would take Crystal Chronicles in an awesome direction.
Meanwhile, this just sounds like the same old stuff... bleh.
I'll reserve final judgment for when it releases, but I don't have high expectations based on what we've been given so far.

I have a question off topic and at the same time on topic. Is the FF: Crystal Chronicles series only for Nintendo systems because all I ever see it on is the the Nintendo ones like Camecube,DS and Wii.
I would love to see how the series would look on the PSP. But I wonder if I will ever see how it would play.
I do got to say I love the DS and Wii working together more games need to do this. So I can't wait to play this new game.
