Nintendo to publish The Conduit [update]

Update: It turns out our skepticism was warranted. Cammie did mean to say "exclusive first-person shooter." Okay then, back to waiting on who will publish this game.

During the fall media summit, Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway has called The Conduit an "exclusive first-party shooter coming to Wii." Could this mean Nintendo is publishing the game? Sure, and, frankly, we all expected as much. But, it could just be a slip of words. Maybe she meant first-person shooter? We're going to try and stay optimistic about it and just go with Nintendo publishing the thing, because we'd like to see that. If she did just mix up her words, expect an update from us.

It was definitely just a slip up. Maybe Nintendo is going to publish the game, but it would be a second-party game, not a first-party game.

Ha I always wondered what constitues a second party title, and Sonic you have cleared this up for me... Learn something new everyday

it sounds to me like a slip-up, but you never know. i think the title of the post definitely needs to be updated to point out the fact that its not confirmed and its a possible slip-up

I actually think this news could be rather unfortunate: it makes the odds of friend codes being included much higher.

The devs stated that they don't want to use the system, but if it's going to be a second party title, it seems very unlikely they won't.

I misread it at first and was like "What? First PARTY shooter?" then was imagining some form of 1st-person Mario Party with guns...

I'm gonna go with this being a slip by Cammie Dunaway.

I swear, that woman is like the Sarah Palin of Nintendo. She clearly knows nothing about videogames, and was only hired to make the soccer moms buying Wiis for their kids feel like they could identify with the company.

Great news that Nintendo are publishing "The Conduit!"

I can't wait to see a "The Conduit" triology emerge - I am confidant not only will the Conduit deliver but it will motivate greater things from other developers.

And leave Palin and Dunaway alone already lolz the industry needs more women at all levels.

So basically, what you're saying is, we should put women in positions of power, regardless of their abilities? Are you suggesting that women can't reach these positions based on their own merit?

Please explain how you feel that Mrs. Dunaway, with a B.S. in business administration, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and the former chief marketing office at Yahoo!, is unqualified to be the executive vice president of sales & marketing at Nintendo.

Other than you somehow find her personally unacceptable, of course. I happen to find her quite charming, but that also is irrelevant to whether or not she is qualified to do the job, no?

I don't see how an MBA makes you qualified to do PR for a video game company, which is essentially what she is doing here.

I believe that Cammie and Sarah have reached where they are on their own merit. They are both talented and able women with great potential which has made one Executive VP of Sales and Marketing and the other Republican Party nominee for the VP of the USA. Nobody *put* them where they are today. It is down to their own merits.

we've got Reggie, Iwata, Siggy, and more to speak for us. Is it really that bad that they hired someone to reach women better? Nintendo is on top and breaking barriers the industry thought no one could break. I may not relate to Cammie doesn't mean my mom doesn't (or the casual gamer).

Palin is the type of conservative most women and men relate to, McCain is too liberal for most conservatives. She became an overnight success for this reason. A lot of people share her views in the same way a lot of people share the views of Obama.
