There is something wrong with you Ryan omg.

Thumbs Up:

Pikmin 1 in 16:9 480p with Wii controls

Pikmin 2 in 16:9 480p with Wii controls and online multiplayer

F-Zero GX in 16:9 480p with Wii controls and online multiplayer

Wind Waker in 16:9 480p with Twilight Princess controls ftw!

When it's all said and done, there is no way in the world that Nintendo doesn't have a new team of people working on these upgraded GC ports. They can do what Capcom did for RE4 to make cheap Wii remakes with better graphics and controls to give people who missed out on those titles a new chance to play them. It wouldn't take a big team to do that, since the games themselves wouldn't change, just the controls and appearance. I guarantee they have other, bigger teams working on new awesome Wii titles, but if they can get these GC remakes happening at the same time...AWESOME. I would rebuy most of my GC titles if remade for Wii in an instant. Perhaps more devs can take this road with good titles. I'd love to see Tales of Symphonia in 16:9 480p on a single disk with better frame rate, it's the best RPG of last-gen IMO.

Like i said they 'better not be' the new Zelda and Mario, I'm not certain but I'm concerned.

I worry because of the rumors of WiiHD coming in 2011. It would make more sense for Nintendo to have HD versions lined up and ready for the new upgrade, that would mean starting on those games now. They wouldn't release a brand new Zelda a year before they need a new one.

In that scenario it would be possible that they would use Game Cube remakes of WW and Mario Sunshine to tide us over. Which would mean we aren't REALLY getting new Zelda and Mario on the current Wii.

It's not rehashing, it's a rerelease. Pretty much taking the Player's Choice games and remarketing them for Wii owners who don't realize that their console plays Cube games.

Most of the big name retailers around where I live barely carry Cube games anymore. Those that do only have the licensed stuff and whatever "niche" titles didn't sell well (Odama...)

But looking around, the only place I can go nowadays to find some of the older titles (Mario Kart, Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, even Wind Waker) is at a used game store.

It's no different than the XBL Classics or the PSX games on PSN.

Execpt that the games will be fully featured and you'll actually OWN the content instead of having it DRM'd to your console.

Foetoid, I'd rather have new installments of those franchises instead of retooled gamecube ports. The Wii's already backwards compatible so we can play these games on the system already sans wii controls. I don't want Nintendo doing this and then saying "there's your Zelda or Mario or Pikmin fix for now. We won't revisit these franchises for another 2 years or so. Enjoy. No thanks, give me new installments built from the ground up for the Wii anyday.

Like i said, new games for the same franchises are still going to be in the works. Porting these games is not a huge task, especially since its made on hardware that is fundamentally the same, being ported by the company that made the games to begin with. They won't need a big team to get the job done, and have enough money to recruit the skills they need. This is just a way of Nintendo giving us more games, enhanced versions of classic GC titles, and games that people who didn't own GCs (which is a lot, considering the Wii has already significantly outsold the GC) access to enhanced versions of excellent games. This isn't going to affect the release of new Wii titles, it's just going to add to them. Excellent work Nintendo!

I don't think so. I think people have had enough Wiimakes and want new content. These games wouldn't really be that different from their initial releases and certainly not worth what Nintendo would presumably ask for them(I would expect $15 to $20 atleast). The Wii already has to many ports of old games like Samba de Amigo and Dead Rising and Resident Evil 4 among others. No more. New stuff!

OR!, old AND new stuff. It might be old to you, but to most of the Wii owners out there, it's not old, it's brand new. People who own a Wii who never had a GC get to experiance the awesome gems available on the GC without surfing Ebay to find some dodgy 2nd-hand copy as well as a GC controller/memory card. It's highly highly unlikely this will even remotely affect releases of new games and will simply add more quality games to the Wiis available library. I know i certainly would buy a 16:9 480p 'Wiimake' of my GC games i still hold on to in an instant and a lot of GC fans will feel the same way, especially if they give consumers the option of keeping their GC control schemes AND new Wii controls. Even bundling them would be cool, im sure they could fit both original Pikmin games on 1 Wii disk, both in 16:9 480p. It's just like RE4. I finished the game 12 times on GC and as soon as the Wiimake was out, traded in the GC version for that and never looked back, never regretted it. If Nintendo can provide Wiimakes of excellent GC games while ALSO working hard on new Wii titles at the same time, then why not? It gives us cheaper, top-quality games to get us by until the next wave of big games hit. OR, we can sit around twiddling out thumbs while Nintendo stops releasing 1st party content cause thier busy making the next big epic Pikmin 3/Zelda/Mario games. I know i'd rather see at least SOMETHING while we're waiting.

Foetoid

You make it sound like 16:9/480p is that great lol

Bottom line is that I would rather play those old g-cube games with a g-cube controller and I don't want to play 40-50 bucks on a game with only updated Wii controls.

Why do you condone this crap????

Whoa, that's a lot of games.

But I wish I was more of a Nintendo head so I could get more excited for, say, Pikmin or Punch Out. I haven't played games in those series before.

I got high hopes for Sin and Punishment 2, though.

I'm really annoyed that Mario & Luigi RPG 3 is once again portable-only. At least the Mario & Luigi RPG 1 could be played on the GB Player.

What do you have against portable gaming? Or are you just some old fogey who clings to the arcade cabinets?

...Now I've made myself depressed at the death of America's arcades. Excuse me.

I don't have anything against portable gaming per se. It's just that I would far rather play a good game on a nice-sized TV than on a little 3" screen (or two 3" screens).

I think it's great that games like Mario & Luigi, New Mario, Contra 4, and the Metroidvanias are playable on portables *for the people that are interested in playing on-the-go*, but what about the people who would much rather play on a nice-sized screen and just aren't really interested in portable gaming?

Hmm... Sin and Punishment sounds pretty good, and I've always quite liked Klonoa. Mario and Luigi could be good, though I much preferred the first game to the second.

Pikmin and Another Code remakes can piss off though...

Since I had a GC I don't really care about refreshing the older titles but this seems like a good move to kill off secondary dealers, like Gamestop, from getting all the profits from people who only have a Wii.

Trace Memory for the Wii? Doesn't really seem like a good idea. An interactive novel type game works much better just on the DS, since it's...well...more book-like. Plus, I don't want to buy any game for the Wii that I'm going to entirely beat the day I buy it (even without SPENDING the whole day playing it). At least with Trace Memory for the DS I could buy it used for less than $10.

- Trace Memory
- Klonoa
- Crystal Chronicles (will no doubt sell well)
- Sky Crawlers (looks gorgeous!)
- Pikman with new controls
There's even a Haruhi rhythm game, if you're into that!

The Haruhi game is one of the standout titles in the video for me.

It's also, if you look at screens, some of the best cell shading ever. Easily better than the PS3 Naruto game.

Yeah, still kinda leaves Wii owners in the lurch for the rest of the year (unless you love Animal Crossing), but its making 2009 into a few kinds of epic, and 2009 was looking sweet already.

They decided, "People didn't seem to like it the numerous times we screwed up the classic StarFox formula, so I guess they don't like StarFox anymore."

In fifteen years, we might get a proper follow-up to StarFox 64 - and even then it'll be portable-only. Just like how it took fifteen years to get a proper follow-up to Mario World - and even then you couldn't play it on a TV.

I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have shown us *some* of this back at E3.

Sin & Punishment might not have been ready to show, but certainly they could've shown Wario Ware and Mario and Luigi, instead of leaving us with the impression that they had abandoned first-party DS development, and a few of those 3rd-party games could've made a great difference.
