This Christmas, Japanese gamers will be able to waggle flowery lemmings to their hearts content. Nintendo has announced (via IGN) that the Pikmin remake for Wii will launch December 25 in Japan for 3,800 yen (approx. US $36). The game is part of Nintendo's new "Play for Wii" series, which will be a collection of GameCube titles revised with Wii controls.
Before Pikmin (and not counting previous Wii remake Resident Evil 4), Nintendo will re-release Donkey Kong Jungle Beat on December 11. Upcoming titles in the collection include Chibi Robo, Pikmin 2, Mario Tennis GC, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime 2 Dark Echoes. No word on any release dates outside of Japan, but we'll be live at Nintendo of America's press conference in San Francisco later today.

Okay, looks like Joystiq didn't want me to post my little rant... so I'll try again.
Because of people like Jack of No Trades, Tmac, and Killjebus, I'm seriously considering leaving Joystiq.
It's not the fact that they hate Nintendo. I don't mind that. Hey, I got friends who aren't Nintendo fans, and we get along great.
It's the fact that they come into every Nintendo post, and spew the same sewage over and over again. And that Joystiq allows it to continue.
If I wanted to read the inane comments of trolls, I'd visit 4chan more often. Hell, even the worst of trolls get banned there.
Reading their posts gives me headaches. And I'm tired of it.
I may still read the blogposts, but I'll avoid the comment sections like the plague. Afterall, I do enjoy the writing styles of some of the bloggers here.
Why post this? Do I think I'm someone important to Joystiq? No, of course not. I'm just making my voice heard, that's all.
This isn't good-bye. Not yet, at least.

Good idea (and pretty classic move), but $36? Narp.

metroid prime 1 and 2 are two of the best games i've ever played.. to play them with widescreen and with wii remote controls would be godly. GODLY. a year and a half ago i bought MP1 and 2 for GC in anticipation of MP3 coming out (i had never owned a GC before getting wii, so i never played them before), but i am looking forward to shelling out the cash again for both games to play them on wii. LONG LIVE.. UMM.. GOOD WII REMOTE FIRST PERSON GAMES

Geez this is almost as bad as what Capcom are doing at the moment. Although to be honest I would buy a Wind Waker with waggle, most definetly.
I will only buy it if it stays AT or BELOW £20. Which is about as likely as the DSi coming out in EU before America

I don't object to this Play for Wii idea since I own a Wii and never had a Gamecube, but if they are priced any higher than their Gamecube counterparts are right now, then I'll just go for the Gamecube version. Especially since I own Gamecube controllers for Brawl. The only thing that's stopped me from picking up the good GC titles like Pikmin and Metroid Prime is a lack of a GC memory card. If the price is too high on the Wii version though I'll just get a memory card.

Whooo. way to rich for my blood, considering I already own those games.
If they go down in price or I can find a cheap copy I may consider picking some of them up, if the motion control turns out to be fun.

Atleast Pickmin was a good, underplayed and underrated game and this mechanic does fit it.
I just hope these doesnt become a new trend in Nintendo, remaking many games instead of making new content or sequels.

It's bringing great games from the past few years that may have been overlooked, since the gamecube wasn't nearly as popular as the wii, to a larger audience. I'm all for it.
