it's just testing the waters since these games took 2 developer teams to finish. If it does good enough, Pikmin 3 will be coming.

Yeah, I'm in (I love Pikmin) but if this is what they meant by "Pikmin coming to the Wii" I'll be sorely, sorely disappointed. This also almost guarantees a retool of MP, though with Retro Studios shaken lately I wonder who will do it.

I was playing Pikmin 2 on my Wii the other day and thought, "Man, this game would rock with Wii controls"

Of course, I'd enjoy Pikmin 2 with Wii controls, but I WANT a new Pikming built from the ground up to utilize the Wii...

why build pikmin 3 from the ground up for wii when they can just port the first pikmin to wii, add waggle, charge $50 and make millions off a 7 year old product all over again.

I would hope this is just to stop Gamestop from getting all the profit from used GC games since more people own the Wii now.

This is top-notch excellent news. I was playing the original Pikmin last night on my 52" Screen, wishing it wasn't so blurry and supported native 16:9. More than likely, Gamecube remakes on Wii will be a lot cheaper than regular retail Wii games. It'll be like a specialist bunch of games. Kinda in the same concept as a 'Platinum' range of games, they'll be instantly distingushable (spelling?) from other Wii games with a special logo so people know it's simply an enhanced GC game with better controls, exactly as they did with RE4. Same game from GC, better graphics with the anamorphic 16:9 and 480p, better controls, cheaper price. People who missed out on the classic GC gems will be able to get thier hands on them. As long as they don't touch Prime 1 and 2, which i think are perfect with the GC controls (and would be far too easy with Wii controls) then I'm happy for them to remake whatever they wish. F-Zero GX with online multiplayer and 480p? Yes please!

This is horrible news if it means that the new Mario and Zelda that Myamoto said were on the way for the Wii turn out to be Wind-Waker and ughh.... Mario Sunshine.

I wouldn't doubt it, if those WiiHD rumors for 2011 are true it would make more sense to get to work on those starting right now.

Also, this might be why the guys from retro left, being asked to retro fit the Prime series after they said they wanted to move on.

What is wrong with you! Wind Waker in 16:9 480p with TP controls is a wet dream!. I would keep my original disk for the OOT bonus disk still, but i would totally buy a remade WW on the Wii.

TP was substandard on the Wii as compared to the Gamecube. But this is a dumb argument anyway. Why aren't they talking about NEW Zelda with NEW innovations. Tacking waggle onto old games is not innovation.

Yes Ryan you're right, theres never going to be a new mario or zelda for the wii, because one of the richest companies in japan can't possibly allocate resources to new instalments of their franchises and port older games to the wii at the same time..

and if they could, why would they when theres a rumour on the internet about them putting out a new system at some point in the future.. it would be stupid for them to make games for the wii now, they should just stop..

So they can't be bothered to 'waste' their time making proper new games for us when casual shit like WiiFit sells in the millions, so they decide to rehash some old Gamecube games with minimal effort and pretend they still care about the 'core audience'? I want sequels or, even better, completely new games, not old games that I stopped playing 2 YEARS ago...

Fuck you Nintendo. FUCK! YOU!

If you haven't played Pikmin and you wanted to you'd go out and buy the fucking Gamecube version. Do Nintendo really think their fans will put up with this crap? We don't want remakes of (To be honest, pretty average) old games that we already completely years ago with rubbish Wii controls tacked on.

Apparently some people here would rather have rehashes of old games you can by at any Gamestop than new games. The more time they waste on rehashing games like this is less time spent on making new games. Why don't they make a Pikmin 3 instead of tacking waggle on?

The fact is Nintendo is making a cash grab and some people here are so willing to attack others who have the audacity to ask for new games. That's ridiculous.

If you have nothing to add to a conversation except to attack another user who's (legitimately) displeased with Nintendo's obvious attempts at cashing in through laziness and fanboyism, then you should leave now, because there's no place for you here.

Some of you people actually think that porting over a handful of old games is going to eat so far into nintendos resources that they had to put the next iteration of their key franchises on the back-burner?

Where the hell dose this shit come from really?

"Do Nintendo really think their fans will put up with this crap?"

Unfortunately, most of them probably will :(

"...actually think that porting over a handful of old games is going to eat so far into nintendos resources..."

The point: "Resources spent on rehashing are resources that could have been spent on new games." How is that so hard to understand?

If the link in this post is to be believed, Pikmin 2, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Mario Tennis (Why not make a new one and make billions, Nintendo?) as well as Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are scheduled for Wiimakes.

After seeing so much positive response from the fanboys here, I can't help but marvel at how Nintendo can take advantage of stupid people...casual and core alike.

You can buy all these games for like $5 now and play them on your wii. So it doesn't have gimmicky motion controls, so what? Are you going to pay spiked prices just for tacky and likely useless motion controls?

Man I'm having too much fun with nintendo's constant fuckups

If there's one thing I've learned about the Wii here it's that the core gamers that still defend it have a very odd taste in games. To each his own, of course, but a lot of the games they marvel over I wouldn't play even for free (and I CAN play them for free, coincidentally).

Bingo, Vcize. I'm still with Wii, and wii-DS alone, because i have a different taste in games than the average joystiq user by far. I don't have any interest in what PS360PC is showing this holiday season, sans LBP and Fable II.

My "blind" fandom is easier to fathom in that light.
