Although its only release in America came as a Virtual Console title on the Wii,
Sin & Punishment (N64 version pictured above) has a pretty hardcore following here in the States. Nintendo has announced a follow-up to the Treasure-developed rail shooter. No details are available yet, but those who have played the original
Tsumi to Batsu will know that the game is a perfect fit for Nintendo's current home console. Check out videos
right here.

i kinda wanted a wii star fox made by treasure ... this is close enoght xD
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:37PM
Well, I feel like they would have screwed over Starfox no matter what.... I mean nothing can beat the N64 one, they've tried twice already and mega-failed.
At least we don't have to worry about furries anymore. :3
&rew @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:11AM
I can't wait to use the lightsaber periferal for this.
Taco_Hell @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:21AM
I think I need a new change of pants. Why the hell couldn't they announce this in E3?!
AwesomeTown @ Oct 2nd 2008 7:29AM
Forget E3, Nintendo gets their own special day.
John Z @ Oct 2nd 2008 7:45AM
At E3 there probably wasn't anything to announce or show off. Software development can take HUGE strides in mere months, and in this industry a poor first impression can annihilate a game before it's even off the ground.
Think of it this way: If Nintendo had said, "We've got new games coming!" four months ago, and the screenshots looked terrible, do you think the irrational fanbrat whining would have been lessened at all? Of course not! Instead, Nintendo could have easily said, "Public perception of the game was poor, so we cancelled it, figuring it wouldn't sell. You've ruined (insert fan-beloved franchise here) forever, we can never make another game for it. Clean out your desks and report to the firing squad out back."

HOLY SHIT YES. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME. Tonight, my hope in the Wii was revitalized. Following this and the other announcements I now look at that white plastic box with hope, wonder and excitement.
God: Thank you.

File me in the "Need a new pair of pants" file.
Holy hell, this made my week.
acefondu @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:32AM
I'm just glad I invested in the pants industry last night.

When I was playing Sin & Punishment on the VC, I said to myself "I wish I could use the wii pointer to aim!"
Thank you Gaming Gods!
Abscissa @ Oct 2nd 2008 5:55AM
Umm, call me jaded, but please tell me this sequel is *ALSO* made by Treasure and that no one's done anything stupid like ship it off to Rare or Namco for butchering (*cough* what Nintendo did to StarFox *cough*)...And that this time it'll actually reach the states *before* two more console generations go by.
John Z @ Oct 2nd 2008 7:39AM
Hey hey hey. StarFox Assault wasn't THAT bad. (Command was an atrocity, and don't get me started on Adventures.) But Namco 'got' what made SF good and made a valiant effort; I liked it, at any rate, but really, it could have been much better with a branching campaign as tradition dictated. ANYWAY.
I've only played a little of Sin and Punishment but I can say that I liked what I played. Might drag it off the card soon to try to finish it. And I wouldn't worry about the developer; Nintendo and Treasure have been good to each other over the past couple of years, so I expect to hear good things about this. (Though if they're paying attention, I humbly request moar Mischief Makers plz.)
Abscissa @ Oct 2nd 2008 6:22PM
"StarFox Assault wasn't THAT bad."
Yea it was. There were only three levels that were in true StarFox style, but even those ones were incredibly dull compared to just about any level in either StarFox 1 or 64. And the rest of the levels were just a bunch of generic third-person-shooter bullshit, with heavy emphasis on StarFox's notoriously lousy dialog.
I didn't mind Command, I kinda liked the turn-based-strategy angle (I like turn-based strategy), but it was still disappointing in that it *still* wasn't the *real* StarFox 64 follow-up that I had been, and still am, waiting for.
We're totally agreed on "Adventures" though ;)

Count. Me. In.

Certainly a perfect fit for Wii if nothing else was
Perhaps his inclusion in Brawl (as an assist) and the bringing of the game to other Virtual Consoles will put this on the fast track for localization.
imaginarythomas @ Oct 2nd 2008 8:54AM
Oh treasure how I love thee, let me count the ways!
samfish @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:55AM
YAY! This was THE best news out of the conference, IMO!
Dash @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:43AM
FINALLY!!!
Oh my dear Lord, did you see the video? This is the real deal. Same gameplay (I was afraid of a "change", thank goodness it is the same), better graphics. The multiplier is also there, and the character looks new (not Taki this time?)
What is this? Is this what happyness feels like?
carlos maldonado @ Oct 5th 2008 10:57PM
That bracelet attached to a cable may hint another Nintendo peripheral
Kino @ Oct 2nd 2008 12:19PM
Really, a new Sin and Punishment? That's the biggest news these guys got? Pretty lame, the first one reeked of tired old mechanics. Unless this one is some kind of third person over the shoulder shooter that isn't goofy looking (oh, wait, failure already) then I'm pretty sure it's not going to fly off the shelves. Might not even gross back what it cost to make the damn thing.
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:40PM
Have you played the N64 one? Seriously, if they make it anything like that with Wii controls, it has already won.
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:39PM
HEY YEAH MOTHA!!!
I THINK I JUST FOUND MY NEXT WII GAME TO PURCHASE. FINALLY.
Slaziman @ Oct 2nd 2008 4:03PM
Shit my pants.
